Hey,

Does anyone else find that the brakes and accelerator pedals are really closer together?
I\'ve only had it a couple days and that\'s the first and actually only thing that I\'ve noticed that I don\'t like...

No, not really. My first time behind the wheel, during the test drive, I felt that the car lacked room around above the accelerator pedal - I felt the toe of my boot (it was winter when I test drove the car) was hitting something everytime I lifted my foot off of the accelerator. I don\'t notice that feeling anymore. Give it some time, be conscious of it (so you won\'t press the gas instead of the brake), but you\'ll adjust.

When I first test drove a Mazda 3 (A/T), I found the brake and gas pedals are very close together (closer than my previous ride). I sometimes hit the brake when I intended to press the gas pedal. The 2nd time I test drove (A/T again), my feet started to adjust to it. The 3rd time I test drove a M/T, it was not a problem anymore :D So, I\'m sure your feet will adjust to it very soon.
One thing I do agree with Bluntman, the area around the gas pedal is tight. I find my feet rubbing against the wall when I press the gas :sarc

If you have trouble now, how will it be in the winter, while wearing winter boots?

I\'ve got pretty big feet and I do find there\'s a lack of space around the accelerator pedal. Other than that you will adjust....

The only time I have trouble is when I am wearing my big work boots.

I used to hit the brake pedal (towards me) when lifting off the accelerator. It\'s now that I have gotten used to where they are positioned. I don\'t think they are too close.

I have the same problem. When I wear my boot, I think I hit the brake or the panel beside the pedal couple of times. I don\'t really feel comfortable at all. Hope I\"ll get used to it soon. :sarc

Here I go dredging up an old post again but, I\'ve noticed that the pedals on the M3 are closer together compaired to many other vehicles that I test drove, but this is good if you have a standard for using the \"Heel to Toe\" method of driving.

I did notice that there is not much room between the gas pedal and the center console and found it quite difficult to get my foot back on the gas pedal sometimes.

I wonder if its possible to cut part of the centre console (since its only plastic) to make more room?!! Just at the bottom of course.

Any comments?

I have a really tough time adjusting when I get into the wife\'s 3 cause the pedals in there are waaay closer together than they are in my 6. After a couple of minutes though it\'s all good. I have rather large feet though, so it may not be such a problem for others.

I\'m a size 11-11.5 and I don\'t have any problems with the pedals. They\'re well placed for doing heel and toe too.

I took the wife\'s 3 to work today and wearing work shoes made it much worse......it is manageable with running shoes, but with leather work shoes I had a tough time.
