View Full Version : Things to check after delivery
Hey guys and girls. I\'m new to this club, seems like a nice one so far.
I just picked up my 05 3 sport GT on Tuesday Nov-16. I really like it so far but I haven\'t really had a chance to \"drive it\" yet... it yet! :zzz
For anyone awaiting delivery learn from my mistakes and check certain things at or just after delivery. I\'ve been back to the dealer twice in less than 4 days.
We all make mistakes and forget things so.....
First, they forgot to put the key for the wheel locks in the car. I looked everywhere possible and then decided to go back to ask them. The guy that installed the tires went through about 20 keys before he found the right one!
Second, this one is funny.... When I went to Canadian tire to buy my floor mats and emergency kit I pick up a digital tire pressure tester. When I got home I tested the pressure and all the tires read between 10-20PSi overinflated. After checking the tire side wall, manual and the ID badge on the driver door I decided to call the \"service advisor\" he said to bring it in. ( I initially though the tester was faulty)
The next day I went in and got a mechanic to take a look, turns out my tester was reading great afterall. Front right was 49PSI, rears were approx. 46PSi... he said
\" WOOOOOO.... they\'re waaay over\". Appearantly front Japan they ship them overinflated to avoid dead spots in the tire because it\'s sitting so long in one place and so someone at the dealership forgot to deflate them when it was delivered.
I wasn\'t bitter about it.. there\'s really no point to being mad and ****-off.

I checked the tire pressure a few times after I got the car, just in case there was a slow leak, but found no problem. There was one thing they mixed up. When I got the keys, the colour stated black on the tag, I asked the sales guy if this was the right keys, as I have blue, and he said it was correct. I didn’t notice the ownership at first, but they had it down as black, I guess it’s okay, as long as I only get pulled over at night.:) I will get this corrected when I renew my plates.

That\'s probably a mix-up at the Issuing Office or with the NVIS that Mazda issued. I had the same problem, my ownership said my car was RED and I stressed this to my insurance company that it was a mistake; I\'ve always been under the impression that RED vehicles get charged more in insurance premiums. Old wives tale or not, I fixed it the next day I went to work.
yeah probably just a small mixup mines was perfect :P

First. Welcome.
Second. Does that mean 20 other people are missing their key???:sarc
Ontario Mazda was pretty good. The only thing I recall missing was the floormat hook, because the damn thing kept sliding around.

Damn, I can\'t imagine the drivers side mat without the hook. All the other ones slide around like they are on ice.
I think a few people (including me) have had slightly low coolant levels when they picked their cars up.

LOL same thing happened to my 3. When i first got my 3, i also bought a digital tire pressure gauge from Can tire. when i tested the tires i got numbers that were also over the tire recommendations. at first i thot the gauge was broke, just cause i bought it from can tire. now i know it wasn\'t :p

Yes on most Mazda cars the tire pressures are around 45-50psi from the factory...the reason is to keep the tires from getting flat spotted during the delievery process when the cars are strapped down to either a boat or train and then to keep them round while sitting in yards or dealerships...They are supposed to be lowered either at PDI or when delivered.

Bonus:
They brought me in the car and showed me how everything worked, preset my radio stations.

I\'m going to pick up my car next week.. These tips really help! Now I know what to make sure they do before I take it home.. :) Thanks~
so apparently it seems like everyone got something \'thrown in\' when they picked up their 3 . . . nice to know cause I DIDN\'T :p
hhmmm, i don\'t know why. Did you guys have to ask them to thrown in wheel locks and mats, or did they just give them?
I\'m gonna go back and get my free goodies ;)

At the dealership that I work at all of the PDI\'s with mag wheels get wheel locks on them, so we don\'t end up with cars missing rims

Hey... It isnt that we are cheap. those wheel locks are a force purchase. When you buy the car they are an added cost. even if the car is dealer traded! The buying dealer pays for them.
Added foot note: Most dealers charge .2 hrs of labour to install those locks.. not here. :D

Should be 32psi
When I picked up my car:
1) On day 2 I went to use my wipers and my driver side wiper arm (complete arm) flew off on the highway. Glad no one was near me on the highway... All I could do was laugh when I took it back in... It didn\'t have a bolt on it... they fixed it and gave me a new wiper arm setup in like 5 mins when I brought it in to the dealership.
2) Mine was missing the hook for the floor mat too. I didn\'t notice until a few days after when my mat kept sliding up and making it tough to push the brake, gas & clutch in. When I went to Burlington Mazda to ask where my clip was to hold it in place (maybe 4 days after buying the car)... they said I would have to buy another new floor mat set for $100 + or whatever they cost. The buggers. I use velcro to hold it down in place now.
This was back over 2 years ago tho.

For any new people picking up an 06 mazda 3 , it\'s a small thing but a regonized recall for the trip CPU.
They will fix on the first service, but save the time, get it fixed on pickup. It\'s the KM remaining feature on the CPU.
Note: Loving my car, so happy with the choice!

Just to add...
If you ever forget the correct PSI, just open your driver\'s door. It\'s right there.

This key u speak of.....was it suppose to be in your car or on the car keys? and how does the key look like? cuz i dunno if they forgot to give me keys to my wheel locks....they gave me an extra set of wheel locks tho in the plastic package....:whoa

The "key" for wheel locks is a special socket that allows you to remove them. It's not a key like what would be on your keychain.

The "extra set" are probably the original 4 bolts that were replaced by the wheel locks the "key" is in the package in the middle.. the one that looks like a funny socket.

I've been driving this car for a year now with no hook for the floor mat either! and I always thought there wasn't supposed to be a hook...

Go back to where you bought your car. They stiffed you out of the clip.

Try some Double-sided Velcro strips it works wonders sometimes....just a suggestion!

I just recived my m3 on April 28 and everything seems fine except a strange rattle sounds coming from somewhere in the front of the vehicle(dashboard possibly?) when i drive over bumps, potholes, or other uneaven road surfaces. What could it be? should i take it to the dealer ?

If you bought it a month ago brand new then yes take it to the dealer to get it diagnosed and serviced.
