I didn\'t want to start a new thread but...

Why the hell did they make the 407 out of concrete? Does it last longer?

I only complain because whenever I go on it, it sounds like I\'m in a learjet trying to take off.

Makes you wonder what happens to our tax dollars. Some of our roads reminds me of the roads in a third world country.

Our tax dollars are spent on stupid things like adding a bricked median, way too many bricked speed humps and raised intersections along my feeder street. I\'m very VERY bitter about this. :(

To tie this back to the Mazda3, I gotta say that speed humps designed for 40kph and the 5sp do not mix very well. 40kph is great to cruise at in 3rd gear, but its a bit high for 2nd (about 3300 rpm). Problem is you slow down over the bumps and its a bit of a hilly street which means that it lags the engine in 3rd gear, so I\'m forced to drive in 2nd for the most part. What a pain in the behind. Sure some may say I\'m lazy and should have got auto if I don\'t like changing gears. Thats not it -- its that these speed humps are like every 300m and I have to go over about 5 to get to my street. EVIL! :sarc

the concrete mixture used on the 407 is more resilient to the freeze-thaw cycles in the winter time vs. asphalt.

however, it does chew up tires moreso than asphalt.

ahhh.... gotcha...

That buzzing noise caused by the grooves on the concrete get kind of annoying....

always reminds me of that hum inside an airplane.
