View Full Version : justifying moonroof option
this is in regard to moonroof on the m3 or in general. apart from personal preferences, what uses/justification for buying that option? also already taken into consideration, its good for ventilation and summer breezing.
ur opinions welcome.

-it\'s the closest thing you can get to a 4 door convertible
-tan lines on you scalp suck
-a must have for those suffering from claustrophobia
-when you\'re \"chillin\" with a girl you can simply lean back, pull back the sunshade, lean the seats back and you can see the stars at night...even in the winter!!!

All the reasons listed above are great. Something else to consider is that in order to get the moon roof you have to get the GFX package (in the case of the Sedan) which means you also get other goodies like bigger wheels, body sills and bumpers, colored grille and sport fog laps. :D

-I don\'t like open top car, but need more sunlight:D , so sunroof is for me
-need fresh air, but side window cause more noise and wind blow directly to my face, and make my ear feel sick.
and other reason that can\'t post at the forum:D :p

My only complain with the sunroof is that it is to damn small, Berfore I bought the mazda 3 I was looking at vw golf gti and it had a huge sunroof, the mazda 3 sunroof could have been bigger, But still I love it and is one of my fav. options.
There is one reason that you might want to consider NOT gettng the moonroof.
I am 6\'4\" (193 cm). The moonroof lowers the headliner about 1\" (2.5 cm).
For me, this is the difference between being able to sit in the car without my head touching the headliner.
Also if you do not have a moonroof, there is no chance that it will leak .:p

Also, the lack of a sunroof/moonroof virtually guarantees the possibility of you NOT getting decapitated in certain motor vehicular collisions.

The sunroof comes in on the sedan on GS with Sport Package. Includes: 16\" Alloy Wheels, 205/55/16 Tires, ABS and Power Moonroof. (Sport Package Costs 1395)

i can see why ppl who bought the sedan would opt for the sport package or hv no choice cause the moonroof is in the bundle.. i went for the hatchback and it is a standalone option for $800. after reading all ur posts and my initial reason, i decided not to get the moonroof..instead to spend that $800 on winter tires. thanx all for ur opinions.

My bad ng3.. I must have blocked that option out of my mind when buying.. who cares about the 2.3L.. I just wanted the moonroof. :D j/k
Thanks for pointing it out though ;)

Why I got my moonroof:
- I\'m only 5\'9\" I could afford to loose the 1\" of headspace
- I love having that extra light in the cabin during the day, it it gets distracting, you simply close the shade
-In the summer, I have all the windows down and the moonroof totally open, It\'s nice having that \"open-air\" feeling
- I use the tilt feature in the summer, so when I close my door, my ears don\'t pop
- That small tilt feature of the moonroof does wonders in keeping the cabin somewhat cool in the summer
I love my moonroof. I elected to get it over the Stock MP3 Player, 6-disc changer (both are approximately $600, the same cost as the moonroof option). I dare say I would not give up my moonroof even for Xenon HIDs.
