On a lighter note, what skills/sports/hobbies/activities can you say that you have taught yourself to do? Stuff that you can do with your eyes closed and can say have never taken a course or paid anyone any money to show you how to do...simply through practice, repetition and reading manuals/magazines or books on the subject.
Myself, playing tennis, golf (although I am still learning) and building my own PC.

I still can\'t swim, if I didn\'t wear contacts I would probably take it up.

Mountain Biking and bike maintenance!!! Look at the avatar...
Started riding about 6 years and had absolutely no clue about what it took to maintain a high end bike. Now both my wife and I have full suspension and front suspension mountain bikes. I do most all the maintenance on them. I\'m able to basically strip the whole bike down and put her back together. The only things I\'m still green at is the front suspension rebuilds and wheel work. Those things I\'d like to learn, but it\'s a matter of finding the time. Also, I like feeding the local bike shops some work to keep them happy so that\'s the stuff I get them to do.

Oh sorry, MJ = Mahjong (the Chinese tiles game, NOT that cheezy tile-matching game you find online... i don\'t know why the heck they call that Mahjong, it requires barely any brain power to play!!!).
Also HAVE to say this to bluntman regarding 19th hole -- sure it\'s not BEDROOM golf? (i\'d post the joke here but it\'ll be way off topic)...

Painting (all media), drawing -- I have taken courses to expand on ideas but I am self taught.
Photography - SLR/Digital and developing by hand. I am in the process of starting my own wedding and portrait business
HTML - At the age of 14 I was builing my first website by coding each piece myself and I\'ve done tons since then.
How to change the oil in all my cars - I\'m a girl..most don\'t like to get dirty :)
How to raise a baby? That counts, doesn\'t it?
How to build my own computer from scratch. I\'ve done it a few times now.
Driving a manual tranny - I learned when I got my Paseo back in 2001.
Tennis, Soccer when I was a kid
Beading (as in making my own jewellery)
Scrapbooking...god it takes a long time!
Umm..I\'m sure there\'s more, cause I have a bad habit of having to learn and know everything all the time :) It\'s unfortunately why I never have time to finish things!

well... i am self taught.
i was not rasied as a young child. I learned to fend for food with my own hands. i learned to read and write. i also learned how to make millions. although i am not a millionaire yet i am still learning.
.
on a more serious note, i learned to drive stick one day when my brother was impaired.
talk about quick learning!
.
i also learned how to draw with crayons.
thanks.
