View Full Version : Polarion Philips 4100K HID Kit

With all this aftermarket HID kit discussion lately on TM3, I have received a lot of PMs from fellow members regarding which HID kit I decided to go with.

- Philips bulbs are simply the best compared to any aftermarket HID bulb on the market.
- This kit comes with TWO wiring harnesses as opposed to ONE vs. the competition.
- Polarion Philips kits are backed by a 3 year warranty

I chose the colour temperature of 4100K because I wanted the best light output possible. With a 4100K Philips bulb, I am getting the best light output with a clean, crisp, bright white light. This clearly will give off the \"OEM look\" from the factory HIDs installed in luxury cars.

The kit arrived today via FedEx. Here are some pictures of the kit.

Congrats bubba :)

You\'ll love the quality of the Philips kit. I\'ve only had my kit for a few days and the light output from a Philips 4100K bulb is simply amazing.

Welcome the HID club.

bubba,
have you compared tommy36/Red\'s HID with Xtec\'s 4500K at the meet (if there was any 4500K kit)? i\'m still debating btw Xtec 4500K and Polarion 4100K and i want pure WHITE output.

Red,
do you have some nightshots of your HID output?

what exactle does the DRL bypass guide do? Disable the DRL?

Didn\'t you have your DRLs sent to the highbeam already?

With the halogen bulbs the bulbs flicker quickly at such a fast rate that the eye cannot distinguish that the lights are actually flickering. The flickering fools the eye and tells the brain that the lights are at a lower than normal intensity giving you DRLs. HIDs cannot flicker as quickly as halogens therefore the flickering is noticeable. The bypass gives the HIDs a constant 12v signal and gets rid of the flickering. The only downside to that is that the HIDs are on as long as the key is in the ignition...I believe even when the stalk is in the off position.

with Oliver\'s DRL guide, the HIDs will be on when the handbrake is down (which activates the DRL pulse signal)

therefore, with the stalk in the off/auto position and the handbrake up, HID will be off

stalk in the off/auto position and the handbrake down, HID will be on

i have the 5000k philips kit from xenonexpert and i love it..its still a white light but the slightest hint of blue to it. I get looks everywhere i go, feels good inside. I\'m not from the toronto area but would like to see a comparison between the 4100k and the 5000k. I hope you enjoy your kit as much as i am...

No worries man, everyone is pretty easy to chat with. I pretty much just hang out and listen to what people have to say. There are definitely some people who love to chat, which helps me because I\'m pretty quiet most of the time.

i read these forums everyday, so when new meets come up up all for it. i would like to compare my philip 5000k to a 4100k or a 6000k. the summer is fast approaching. i would love to see a number of 3\'s with HIDS just line up, that would definately look hot..

Well not to sound like a dick, but if you got a look at my 5000k, you wouldnt want 4500. j/k. i just really love my Hids, its one of the better mods i had to date. i read a post before about someone saying once you have HIDs its hard to go back to halogens. i didnt understand them then, but now i do

Seems all the HID experts are here :)

I called Jeff at Lockdown and he suggests Eurolite 8000k... Can someone shed some light on the brand performance or the colour (whether it\'s legal)?

8000K may looks good if you like the blue/purple look ... however, it doesn\'t shine as bright as the lower temp :( Legal or not depends on what colour do the cops think your HID is, I guess :sarc

Thanks... that\'s exactly what I thought. According to Jeff it\'s actually \"ultra-white\"... Damn. So I suppose that Philips Polarion series would be the best HID kit on the market today?

i guess it all depends on yoru flavour of taste...and the look you want...
i want stock sleeper look..up close lookin at projectors they look liek normal halogen bulbs..but far away they have the bmw style look...

You may also like to take a look at this kit:
www.xenondepot.com - also Philips-based like the Polarion

Wejidas on this board has it and I think it looks fantastic.

Yeah, I\'ve had my eye on the XD kit for a while now, but cash is tight, so I was hoping to find something a little less expensive like the Xtec kit.

So far these are the options:

1) Polarion Kit - $600-$800CAD
2) Xenon Depot Kit - $550-$600CAD
3) Xtec Kit - $385CAD (+$15 for shipping)
4) McCulloch Kit - $330CAD (includes shipping via FedEx)

I\'ve read so-so things about the McCulloch kit, I\'ve read only awesome things about the XD kit, and I\'m fairly new to the other two.

If anyone has any input, it is greatly appreciated.

XD kit will be the best compromise between quality and the best bang for the money.;)

most ppl have been pretty satisfied from what they get for the $$$ just look in this (http://torontomazda3.com/forum/board.php?FID=19) section and you can find a bunch of discussions on that topic.

xtec - new, inexpensive, 5yr warranty, probbaly \'better\' looking than polarion but that is ALL SUBJECTIVE and you can get higher temps for the below kit as well if you like that

polarion - established, industry leader, pricey, 3yr warranty (or 1yr depends where you buy) 4100-4300K closest to \'stock\' look and best light output
