Hey guys remember at the meet when it appeared that I stalled pulling out from a parking spot? I didn\'t stall actually but my car battery light came on and I didn\'t notice it until I tried steering (not easily at all) and then checked the gauge cluster to see the battery light on, engine light, plus a few others...

Prior to this incident, my gf was in the car for maybe half an hour at the most. I left the heat on (fan level 2), HID\'s headlights on, fogs on, interior (map) lights on, and she was charging her cell phone in the cigarette lighter socket... all of that would cause the battery to drain just enough in flip the battery light, in less than half an hour???

if you didn\'t start the car w/ engine running, battery didn\'t recharger itself, so it would be dead quite quick, but not sure how fast.

Yeah, the fan takes a lot of battery juice, and the headlights also put on quite a drain on it. Its possible that it may be nearly dead in that time. At least with all the people around there and a 5sp we could have push started it for ya :p

I think wtom had his car running though.... Or else his gf would get cold air and not heat after 10min.

Dang, never knew it\'d be drained THAT quick... I\'d thought one or two hours at least. Thanks for the responses!

Maybe when I was in high school but now, nah... won\'t be using the car in the cold winter nights. :D

All dash warning lights should come on.

If the Battery light, engine light, and a few others came on, it sounds like it stalled, or didn\'t turn over all the way when started. You battery shouldn\'t be dead that fast, I wouldnt think. I have been to a drive-in and had the stereo only on for like 2hours, then 10mins of idle, and then another 2hour movie. And thats with my small system pushing like 500W at most.

By stalling, you mean like any normal manual tranny stalling (ie. entire car bucks)? If so, then nope, the car did not buck at all. It just suddenly lost power steering amongst other things and that\'s when I noticed the Chrismas lights on my dash.

do your outside lights slightly dim if you are barely moving and do some steering? or is that just me?

Stalling means engine/power shuts off on you.

Obviously your car stalled since you lost your hydraulic power and you saw the x\'mas tree on your dash.

No idea since I\'m on HID\'s, david3. :)

Hmm, would my issue have anything to do with why now I can\'t start my car after having it off and parked for a long period of time (meaning over half hour or more)? Cuz now it seems I have this problem;

But it\'s a 2005 Model year. Recalls go on Model years, not build dates.... or they will usually state...

That notice says 2004 Mazda3 0000000 ZZZZZZZ... which implies 2004 model year. Even cars bult in Nov 03 would be affected.

quote from warren \"my 3 is June 04 build\"

which, iirc, falls under the 2004 model year.
