So I have an 08 Mazdaspeed 3 that I bought a year and a bit ago, I didnt notice that the paint was cracked where the rear fenders were rolled but anyways after last winter and this winter the rust is now taking its toll. I try to clean it off with some polish compound and it stays clean for the summer but of course our salty winter roads just make it look terrible.
So I went to have my etest done at this small shop that also does auto body work and I asked for a quote, and he said $800 for both sides but he also said that they sand blast the rust off because it can take it off better than grinding it down , I wanna know if its actually true or not and if $800 is a good price for both sides , my car is also crystal white pearl which i hope they can match.
Also not sure if this is in the right section or not ..

Sand blasting is a great alternative to sanding. It doesn't leave gouges in the metal and leaves the metal surface very smooth, pretty much ready to prime. I've had exhaust headers blasted and they come out clean and soft. If it's $800 for sand blasting, priming, painting and clear coat, then that's not bad at all.

Thanks for the info and I was thinking exactly the same thing price wise , hopefully they can colour match crystal white pearl properly though as I heard it was hard to do.

Sand blasting it the best way, aside from acid dip, but they need to use a metal prep / rust converter right after the wipe the dust clean.
Sand blasting can leave micro rust in micro holes, the prep kills it like antibiotics.

In order to get CWP to match properly, they will have to blend the paint into other panels. My old CWP hatch had a repair done on the rear quarter and it was blended all over the right side
