Hi fellow mazda owners ☺️
I recently picked up a 2010 Mazda 3 sedan.
I live near the border of Scarborough and Markham.
My mazda 3 is automatic, sunroof, Bluetooth, manual shifting, one (aftermarket) heated seat and is my basic day to day car.
Before this car I was driving a 2001 VW Jetta TDi (diesel) and apart from the fact that it was loud, smelled like crayons and was 16 years old, I loved it. I got it modified to push the little automatic to 120hp and 255lb of torque at 2000rpm. That car moved.
So since mid November, I'm driving this car, It's not fast by any means, it is not very fuel efficient but it was built in Japan, it's supposed to be reliable and it'll do for now.
That's my long introduction.

Welcome . You mention fuel efficiency, what kind of mileage are you getting?

Thank you.
If I fill my tank up until fuel is basically coming back out, I may be lucky and get 5-550km on a tank with mixed city (mainly) and highway (a little bit) driving.
My 16 year old jetta would give me no less than 700k a tank.

10Mazda3i -You are comparing apples and oranges here, diesel vs. gas. You couldn't actually expect the Mazda to match the diesel could you?
Oh and Welcome to TM3.

Thank you.
You're right it's huge difference however, the only factor I took into account is the fact that my jetta was an '01 and my Mazda is a '10. I figured that in 9 years, the technology (especially from a 2L 4cyl engine) would improve to at least come close to the fuel efficiency. No big deal.
The Mazda has may conveniences over the Jetta. I am grateful for that.

10Mazda3i -Well the Skyactiv engine models can reach pretty good fuel numbers, mind you I don't think they came out till 2012. I've heard people claim to get over 700km per tank or better.

Hmm, I guess that would probably be someone that feathers on the gas pedal. :)
My one co-worker has a '14 Mazda 3 and she gets max 600 km/tank.
Then again another one of my coworkers drives a ' 16 Jetta 1.4t and it gets the same amount and the mazda has a larger engine so the Mazda wins there.
I find this car to be particularly weak. Kind of like driving a corolla, civic or sentra. I also don't feel as safe in this vehicle as I felt in the jetta.
I'm already planning my next vehicle as this car will only be used for 3 years until I have enough to grab a new car.

Welcome! When the fuel pump stops the first time don't add any more. You may cause yourself a big repair bill.

If I don't do that, I lose 100km per tank.
