PIE:

A baked food composed of a pastry shell filled with fruit, meat, cheese, or other ingredients, and usually covered with a pastry crust.

A layer cake having cream, custard, or jelly filling.

A whole that can be shared: “That would... enlarge the economic pie by making the most productive use of every investment dollar” (New York Times).

or

a module that you plug into the connector on the back of your headunit that will give you an opportunity to connect an Alpine M-Bus compatible CD changer, or an MP3 player.

the non-edible PIE (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=445)

Ok, sooooo
It basically makes an \'RCA-type\' jack for the OEM radio?
Like, I can hook an xbox to a seprate screen for video, and run the audio though the OEM radio?

The PIE module for the Mazda3 has an Alpine M-Bus connector so in order to connect, say, an MP3 player you\'ll need this cable (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=608). If you want to connect something else (video game console, computer, PocketPC, etc), you\'ll need this cable (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=124).

The funny thing is, I called Alpine in Markham about the availability of the cables up here and they\'ve never even heard about either of them! I bought the first cable through DiscountCarStereo.com when I ordered the PIE module and it was in an Alpine package; the second cable is a custom cable made by PIE.

Pi is also the 16th letter of the Greek alphabet and a transcendental number, approximately 3.14159, represented by the symbol, that expresses the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle and appears as a constant in many mathematical expressions

i guess if quantity vs quality is your cup of tea and a slice of PIE ;) then go ahead.. i just figured we would try to keep this as simple as possible and you could have increased your post count by referring him to the link instead of having ME increase my post count :p

It\'s the PIE and the first cable or the PIE and the second cable and a cable with two male RCAs on one end and a single 1/8\" mini jack on the other.

PIE is the name of the company, Precision Interface Electronics. Just don\'t confuse it with a pie box (http://www.partiesandpresents.co.uk/images/store/CSO811.jpg).

No, the PIE\'s interface is for an Alpine deck (the same interface used on the stock headunit), sorry.
