I got a recall notice in the mail today!
It\'s regarding the possible crack in the air bag sensor.
Did anyone else get this?
I didn\'t get the recall notice but my crash sensor was replaced by Avante free of charge - they told me there was a recall last time I was in. Great service btw!

Got mine too. It looks like it\'s just an inspection. Regardless, I have an appointment next Wednesday @ Avante.

I first heard about this here. I have been wondering if letters would be sent to everyone, as I haven’t received anything. Does it state how long they would honor the recall? I ask because I wonder if mine doesn’t fail within the warranty period, would they still treat this as a recall 3 years from now?

The recall only affects cars within a certain VIN range.

Not all cars are effected by this recall, even if their VIN is in that range. That\'s why Mazda put \"inspect\" the sensor, as not all sensors need to be exchanged but they need to cover their ass in case something does happen down the road. I would think that if your car\'s airbag light hasn\'t come on yet, then there\'s a really good chance there\'s nothing wrong with your sensor as this VIN range is for cars almost 1 year old.
Does it state how long they would honor the recall?
From my understanding, they have to honor the recall forever. Recalls don\'t have expiry dates.

I\'m going in for my 32K today, the guy at westowne noticed the recall note
in his computer when he was booking my appt.
He told me they replace it anyways, wether it needs to or not.

If your sensor was cracked it would have thrown a CEL at you.
They overtorqued the sensor during assembly of the early models. That problem has been corrected.
