View Full Version : The Best Snowbrush?

What’s the best snowbrush, with ice-scraper for the Mazda 3? I have the cheap wooden one for around $2 from Canadian Tire. I had an expensive one some time ago, but my cheap wooden one was better, but it’s time for a new one. Can anyone recommend a good brush, something that scrapes the windshield well, and is safe on the paint; should I get a little too aggressive when I am late for work?
Thanks.

I use Oscar 3 in 1 brush for a long time and have no problem only quite pricey for $17 selling in CT.
Since I\'ve owned my 3 (first car that I own)... I\'ve felt very uncomfortable putting any brush against the body panels (there will be times you need to brush snow off the panels)...
MBN suggested using a squeegy ... but squeegy has that white stiff filter thingy wrapped around the sponge. Do you remove it?

I don\'t brush snow off the side of the car... I only use it to clear windows... I let the wind take care of the rest.... the blowing snow also deter\'s tailgaters :p
I don\'t think I\'ll have this problem. ;) My car is hardly ever parked outside.

i use the \"wrapped sponge\" to push the snow off the car body; it rarely ever touches the metal.
with a thick layer of snow, when you start pushing from a bit above the bottom, the weight of the snow will usually move the entire block of snow off the car.
i used the squeege/\"wrapped sponge\" for 3 winters on the maxima and i returned that car with nary a scratch in the clear coat or a swirl mark.
a snowbrush will never touch a car i own.
as for scraping off the ice, turn the car on, set heater to max heat, fan on full blast, front and rear defrosters on...then start clearing the snow off the car. by the time you\'re finished that, the windows are warm enough to have melted most of the ice. then i use the squeegee part to clear up the windows.

it\'s ppl like you that make me want to rear end them!!
flying snow is dangerous for 2 reasons:
1) unsuspecting drivers (even 2 seconds behind you) will see a flying slab of snow and migt veer out of control
2) if they don\'t. the snow deposits on the windshield in a huge lump affecting their vision.
so next time be considerate and remove the snow off your car.
and MBN, what do you mean wrapped sponge? don\'t quite see what you mean? just wrap a sponge around the end of the snow brush (or any stick)?

I\'d like to see you put that on the end of a stick!
But I was thinking more like this...

canadian tire
it was like $4.99 a few months ago. now it\'s $10.99.
it\'s exactly like the things at the gas station, except this one has a telescopic handle (which works really well pushing snow off the roof and hood of the car) :)

Picked mine up from CanTi for like $9.98 or so (tax extra). Not sure if I got a steal of a deal cuz the price tag and receipt state \"handle\" only ... I had screwed on a Mallory squeegee head while browsing that aisle ... I think it\'s part of the product for that price? :p
Purposely parked my car on the roof of the parkade today... will see how this thing performs as a snow remover. :)

When shopping for a snow brush, I only had two criteria: the bristles have to be soft and it had to be less than $10.
I jsut went to CT and felt all the bristles. Picked the softest one, which happened to be 6.99.

I\'m not too worry about the brush but rather the dirt and sand on the surface of the car... when you push the snow away from your hood/roof, you\'re also moving the derbies around. I usually throughly clean up the snow on my car before I pull out of the parking lot... I think I\'ll get some scratches down the road :(

i picked this one up...
http://images.canadiantire.ca/media/images/Automotive/WinterAutomotive/SnowBrushes/0304450_450_CC_39521.jpg
poduct id 30-4450-2
it was 11.99 and it\'s nice and long and one of the few where the scraper is parallel to the surface you are sweeping with the brush.. and it also is raised so no worries about scraching it with teh scraper..
got a free 1 frm mazda... went fr my 1st service n they gave me a free light weight metal brush <of course it sayz mazda on it> n it\'z telescopic... u\'d think they mite b cheap bt it\'z quite good!
