i was diving along the other day and the check engine light came on i took it to the dealer right away they checked it and said it was the purge solenoid valve and they would replace it.i will be having it replaced on friday.thats when i will ask the dealer questions but in the mean time i would like to learn more about this from my mazda freinds.does any one know a thing or to about this like what it is exactly it is (has something to do with the gas tank and the air pressure in it i think) why it went out and could there be future problems .maybe someone had the same problem .would like to here from you if you have
thanks for the time:sarc

hey.. mazda gx.. welcome to the forums..

you\'re correct, it does have to do with a gas tank pressure and when you drive around with the gas cap off u\'ll get a CEL.. but also when the purge solenoid is malfunctioning..

read up a bit more on purge solenoids here (http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/jk/020116.htm)

and yes.. other members (namely Xenon and blabla98) have had problems with it. it looks like a faulty part from mazda and it is covered under warranty (actually i believe there\'s a technical service bulletin (TSB) on it)
