Alright, the turn out at meet #7 was fantastic. So we need a bigger parking lot or something to meet in...

Where should it be?

(Now that we are creating a central location, it must be east of the 400!)

there is a huge parking lot at the corner of Eglington and Victoria Park. I\'m going to see how empty it is on a Saturday afternoon. I\'ll post photos on the weekend.

If only more people were willing to go more east, the AMC lot in Whitby is often very empty along the east side and its all straight with no medians in the way (ie. park tons of cars across the same side)

Even the Pickering Town Centre has lots of lot space along the backside....

^^^ That\'s the \"Far East\" side.

The lot at Elginton and Vic Park would be okay, but there are tons of cops passing by all the time (that\'s my neck of the woods). I know that we would be doing nothing wrong, but sometimes they can (and will) hassle you. Quite a few car clubs meet in the parking lot in front of the Crappy Tire on Eglinton just east of Vic Park (almost at Warden). The only problem with that is I\'m not sure what nights are already spoken for by other clubs.

I\'m up for a \"Far East\" meet since our West meets are \"Far West\" anyway. But yes, Whitby is a bit far... what\'s the order? TPAWO ... Toronto, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, and finally Oshawa? Zikes...

I was thinking the same thing!

Other locations:

Petticoat Creek Conservation area (haven\'t been in a while can\'t remember how much parking is available)
Pickering Town Center
Costco Ajax (can be busy depending on the day)
AMC Whitby

How about more central to both the East and West...
I know Colossus\'s parking lot should be more than enough for a meet... Or D&B\'s on the other side of the 400... That\'s where the RX-7 and RX-8 clubs usually meet up at...

Mississauga is \"Far West?\" I thought Far West was like... Burlington, Hamilton

Depends where you\'re from. To me anything past Yonge St is far west. If I manage to make it past Kennedy Rd I\'m out of my element. :D

If you\'re from the area and familiar with it, it\'s local to you. If I was to say to most guys form Mississauga or Oakville, swing out to Bowmanville and we\'ll hook up, it\'d probably seem like a trip and a half. It\'s the same for use east enders, hell, Yorkdale Mall is a world away from me!

That is just north of the 401 off Milner. I agree that has plenty of space.
Scarborough Town Centre at the rear also has plenty of space.

For an East meet I would also suggest the following location (I think it is called Glen Rouge park):
It is east of Meadovale on Sheppard where the road splits. Once side continues as Sheppard and the other enters into a valley which is probably a park of some kind. Further down the winding road (Great for pics of a line of Mazdas) is a giant parkinglot that is 95% empty most of the time. This is a heavily wooded area with a 2 lane road that can be steep in some areas.

There is also Morningside Park.

I like NEO\'s idea, the 7&400 locations are big and fairly central to everyone...

Ditto that... how come you east siders always think Mississauga is on the other side of the globe?

If Pickering and Whitby is \"Far East\" for you, that would be \"Far Far East\" for us.... :(

We can have a meet in Whitby just for Vixen :D

There Is a Huge Parking Lot behind this Cafe \"Dusk Till Dawn\" on Eglington and Warden...I saw we meet there, chill for a bit then head over to dusk for frappes or coffees.

^^ That\'s a good spot too. You also got me thinking that there is now the Homeshow at the same intersection......that lot is huge!

The date for the first official meet in 2005 is NOT set yet. It will be very weather dependent. We will not have a meet unless there is minimal snow on the ground, and warm enough to stand outside.

However, we may have an unofficialmeet sometime in the middle of winter, but it will be more of a social get together instead of a meet about the cars. It will be too cold to stand around comfortably outside and chit chat. We\'ll probably meet at some kinda restaurant and chill inside. Have a bite to eat kinda thing. The date for this unofficial meet is also to be determined, but it will be in Late Jan or Early Feb.

After Xmas and before New Years only give you a week, all of which is weekdays, considering Xmas falls on a Saturday. Also, some people will have to work, while lots others (like myself) have the week off and don\'t exactly plan on being anywhere around the general vicinity.

I\'m sure the students in the bunch will be more apt to relaxing and such....

Xmas is probably the worst time of year to be planning any type of meet, with the snow, and with not being able to work around other people plans, that I doubt it would fly.

After New Years there is more opportunity for people willing to go.

Sorry, newb question here......how many people/cars turned out for the last meet at Kennedy Commons that it warrants a change in venue?

You could always have the meet at the IKEA at Leslie and the 401.....now that they built the upper deck, it is always more or less empty and very will lit.

Yeah, I just figured that since it\'s so close to both the DVP/404 and the 401, it would be easy to get to. Plus, as an added bonus, for anybody who wants to bring their girlfriend/wife, they can go to IKEA during the meet :D
