Customs Clearance Delay

Apparently my shipment\'s in Mississauga right now...how long does it usually take to clear the customs? It\'s a major mod for my car for spring. ;)

I have a little bit of experience with this due to my work. We just encountered a two week delay sending some of our products down to our office in Texas! Mind you, that was very out of the ordinary. Usually it should only take a few days. Which courier is it coming by? If it\'s FedEx, you could call them and find out exactly what is causing the delay (no commercial invoice perhaps), and rectify the situation yourself.

Right now there is a longer delay.

Appearantly customs has changed, and are being a lot more strict. I have heard things have to be filled out a certain way etc, or it wont go through. I bought an old Ford sales brochure on eBay, and it was shipped on Nov 16th. I still havent seen it. So I called the Canadian Post people, and they said the Toronto is 7 days behind normal (which is usually a few days anyway). So it will be in customs about a week and a half.

What did you buy? :)

About $150.
I hope I don\'t get screwed over by customs. Last time I got charged $62 for a $120 item.

let\'s hope they were declared properly. Customs only inspects items at random or those that may appear \"undervalued\".

if declared properly, Canada Post fills out the forms for the duties/taxes you have to pay and you\'re on your way.

if looks as if your package has been selected to be \"inspected\" ....it could involve Customs opening the package and reassessing it\'s value and charging accordingly...also, let\'s hope the rims weren\'t declared as \"Gift\" :p

Last time I got something shipped by Fedex it was COD though.
Shouldn\'t be too bad...seller declared items as $500.

Came by FedEx right? They paid on your behalf. Expect a bill from them in 2 to 4 weeks time... I\'m still waiting on my U$599 declared exhaust system customs bill from USPS/CanPost. :(
