OEM Switches/Buttons

Anyone know if there are any OEM switches or buttons for the knock-outs to the left of the steering wheel (next to the lights dimmer knob)? I\'d like to put in a button, but the fact that the current knockouts appear curved may make it tricky to do a nice flush job.

Maybe Joe could look something up? Thanks..

FYI I\'m planning on wiring in my garage door opener to it.. I can\'t find anywhere else that is convienient and it would make a nice practical and simple mod :)

you can easly put switches in there and it looks good too to take them out you got to pull the whole panel out and i believe theres 3 blanks ones but you can only use 2 one has something on the back of it but you can easly drill holes on the 2 blank ones and hook up switches

I never doubted it was hard. The DeWalt drill is quite the resiliant tool ;) -- I\'d like to see if there are stock buttons/switches maybe from other Mazda models so that it can look as stock and clean as possible. Otherwise I\'ll have to head down to Active Surplus or Sayal and ponder over which button to get :p

Yeah those 3 or 4 blank covers can be easily removed.

Another guy in M3F.com ordered an OE coin holder (from Japan I believe) that sits in one of those blanks.

Hey, when you build it or find one, mind if I borrow it on occassion? Where are you going to put the time circuits and Mr. Fusion? I guess you could mount the flux capacitor in the trunk or something...

lol.. but actually you need 2 dolls to leagally drive in those lanes.. speaking of which.. i didn\'t realize that until i was passing everyone on dundas b/c they were all stuck in middle and left lanes :p

This kid had a leak in the factory 4x4 air ride of his Explorer and was asking about it on the forum. Being a newbie, they went on for about 5 pages about it being a problem with his Flux Capacitor and how he should go to Pep Boys and ask about getting it fixed and he went...OMG! Too funny!

But, I did dig this up from an old Audi thread:


\"Hey guys, I\'ve got a 98 1.8T. I\'ve had a k04 and chip for a while and wanted to get more perfomannce. I was recommended to port and polish the intake and exhaust. We found out they used abrasive material to do it like gritty sand. So I got with my friend that tunes Hondas and we decided to try it ourselves. We got a bag of sandblasting sand and hooked up into the intake and started the car. We had to hold the gas so it would run. He wanted to let the engine suck in the sand through the intake so it would port it out and then push it out the ehxaust so it would port the exhaust manifold. I was worried that it might cause problems but he figured it\'d be OK as long as we didn\'t make boost and it get sucked in the turbo. After running the car and letting it suck in sand we got about half way through a 25 lb bag. The check engine light was on and the
engine was bucking and kicking and sounding really weird. We stopped and hooked the car back up normal and took off the sand supply. We tried to start it again and it was really hard. Once started it couldn\'t idle and kept making weird noises. We took it out and drove it and it started to make scraping and knocking noises. Help! Can anyone tell me what to do! My buddy only does Hondas so he doesn\'t know much about Audis.\"

The How-to for removing the switch blanks appears to be gone. I searched but couldn\'t find anything. Could someone post the link to it, or explain how to remove one of the blanks.

i cant post pictures cuz i dunno how but basically you pull down on the left of the wheel that whole peice will easity come off with some tuggin and then you can pop out the pieces from inside
