Hi all.

I just got my Mazda3 over a week ago. When I washed it I was looking at the hood and noticed a discolourization in the paint. It was under the clear coat. To me, I thought it was a factory flaw and would need to be either repainted or something. I took it to the dealership that I bought the car from (Mazda of Brampton). Service was closed, so I went to my sales rep. He looked at it and knew exactly what it was. He said that it is moisture in the paint (under the clear coat). Because that section is covered with plastic when they are shipped here, this can be visible in the winter. This isn\'t common in the summer because the sun is shining down on it.

To correct this they will use a heating gun to warm up the area and this will cause it to disappear, from what he was saying, this won\'t happen again once fixed. I have an appointment tomorrow to have this done. My question is, has anyone else noticed this on their Mazda 3?

I will keep you updated on this issue.

There is a Technical service bulletin out for this issue.
Bulletin No: 09-015/04
Issued: 04/26/2004

It describes exactly the heat gun procedure that you mentioned.

Oh cool. Is there a place on the web to read up on this?

Mazda3Forums.com has a complete list of TSBs.

This is a good site where you can search for TSBs for most (if not all) car makes and models:
