Would like to hear how people are managing during this epidemic.

I've been in isolation for over 3 weeks now, and waiting on the results of my corona test results. Going a little crazy, cabin fever I guess. I break the monopoly by periodically going for a very late night drive. Still love driving my 3.

I think this is the first time a tank of gas lasted me almost a month lol.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Im still working. My place has been deemed "essential." Of course that might change depending on what happens to our sister facilities in the states. Most people are running around with masks, a couple of people were in isolation because they were sick, but for the most part we are good.

my dealership is open, but I have been home for about 2 weeks. running limited hours and staff for the mean time. which is fine, got a chance to do stuff around the house, clean the cars and final fantasy 7 comes out this Friday so it will give me time to make a dent in that before going back. but what a crazy time. and it just seems the people that should be home don't care and are out and about as per normal.

for gas, yea filled up the 3 on the 23rd and its been pretty much parked since.. 1 trip to work to get my summers on and filled it with 94 because.. well it was .95 so why not.
Jeep was filled up the 15th of last month.. I think it still has 3/4 of a tank, also the wife is home on mat leave so no where shes going.
nice to have cheap price on the fuel shame there is no where to go and by the time we all go back to work I am sure they will jack it back up.

but I don't assume I will go back to work until later this month or first Monday in may. hopefully they will have some protection in place at the desks to distance between the customers and when its warm we can leave the doors open to circulate the air around.

Week three of working from home. Happy to be working, not just for the income, but because it keeps me occupied. I would prefer to be in the office, easier to get stuff done with my team, etc. Wanted to drive my car this weekend, but the battery is dead(forgot to unplug the dashcam), tried boosting it with the wife's civic, no go. Going to call roadside for a jump start later in the week, just to drive around a bit.
Have made a weekly grocery run for myself, and a few for my mother, still going stir crazy.

The company i work for was very proactive.
ive been working from home and zoom conferencing for the last 4 weeks.
Tinkering with the car ...did a intake valve cleaning last week.
Only getting outside for a quick jog around the block and occasional going for a drive too
4 weeks one tank of gas ... 2 bars left need to go this week and get some cheap priced gas.
Maybe a good time to get summer tires put on take a drive to Toronto motorsport track
maybe they left the gate open and zoom around a few laps ...lolol

I'm essential also as I work the TTC in garage maintenance and everyday in contact with others or on many buses per shift.

I started experiencing most of the symptoms back in middle March, so under my doctors orders and ministry of health went into isolation.
Thirteen days ago I went to an assessment centre and had the test done, they told to wait in isolation for the results and that they would contact my doctor with the results. Well almost 2 weeks later no result yet.

I just contacted Ontario health again today and now they told me I can go online to view my test results which they just implemented on the weekend lol

Test results; INDETERMINED lmao.

Now I have to wait some more.

Incase anyone else is waiting for test results here is the web address; www.COVID-19.Ontario.ca

Got the car boosted yesterday, and drove it for just over an hour, was nice to drive my car again. This weekend the plan is to hand wash it, then next weekend consider putting on the summers.

Well yes and no, all it meant was they ****ed up on my sample, which leaves me still in the dark.

Anyways they got me to go in and get another test done today, and they said they are 'fast-tracking' it this time lol.

Its not that simple.

As I stated earlier The Ministry of Health requires, if symptoms existed, and you are an essential worker, you need to be tested and cleared before you return to work. But they are only accepting those for testing that have had symptoms.

so how does that work for pay? do you go on EI for the two weeks you are home? I mean you are required to work "essential" then you get sick and have to stay home for 2 more weeks before going back to work and maybe getting sick.. sounds like a stupid cycle. :(

I've been sitting around and tearing my car apart just for fun but I've ran out of things to do so I just sleep, play games, and just be lazy. ireally wish i had something else to do though that would keep me occupied for more than 2 hours productively.

Booter22 - Well in my case I booked off sick so I get paid 75% for the duration.

I finally got the results of my test which was negative for the virus, but 3 weeks after my first symptoms and a week and a half after my test. Anyways, I informed the TTC Occupational health and they still don't want me coming back as I still have a slight cough. Whether they'll have to pay me 100% now since I've been given the okay to return by the ministry and my doctor and want to return and can't because them ordering me not too is yet to be seen.

Everyone is skeptical considering the current state of things. However, you tested negative so I don't see why or how they can deny you returning to work. Sounds like a PR nightmare in the works for them.

Well things are pretty messed up at the TTC right now to say the least. Last I heard some 3000 people are off due mostly to the virus, some have booked off sick and some were asked to stay off due to underlying medical issues, such as diabetes and respiratory issues.

I tested negative, yes, but there was a discrepancy in the testing and the fact I was still coughing 'slightly', had them concerned about me returning. They definitely don't want it spreading into a garage, as that would mean closing the garage completely for a couple of days and no buses.

Anyways, as of yesterday I was given the OK to return to work. It was a hard shift to complete, I found myself very tired and weak feeling at its end. Hopefully today will be better.

Be careful all.

stay safe out there. we had a meeting at my work yesterday, sounds like we are going to start ramping up the appt bookers and some techs and apprentices in the shop and in a week or two after get 1 advisor and return us all in seniority, so I may go back same time as the other guy or a week or so after.

so far ive been home 4 weeks. so could be 2-4 more before i go back. thats ok. it is what it is. got paid some Ei today Life will go on, least the cars are super clean and polished and ready for summer. working on the mustang tomorrow for a few days get that dialed in and might get the chance to take her for a spin weather permitting.

other wise i have been playing the shit out of final fantasy 7 remake and then downloaded the free uncharted and journey to try. but all we can do is take it day by day.. coffee by coffee... i do look forward to going back to work at least. getting some more money coming in, have the guy finish my shed.

whats has everyone else been up to?

Booter22 - Your cars look immaculate. Must be nice to be able to hand wash your car, I haven't been able to wash the car for over 6 weeks now. : (

I hate driving around in a dirty car.

What did you use when polishing? Machine polish or hand, and if machine what pads and stuff did you use?

I'm planning on doing a complete detail, buff, and wax on my 3 this year to mark her 15th birthday. : )

https://3dproductscanada.com/

So back in the day they had an HD polisher similar to a porter cable that's what I use now its a dual action polisher which I think goes up to 6000 rpm or 6 is the highest speed with a 5.5 inch pad and I use there pads
Heavy Cutting Yellow
Polishing/Cutting Green
Pad Application Red

Chemicals I use for polish HD adapt which is now 3D ONE Hybrid Compound and Polish ( which I have ordered as my adapt is almost finished)
which I will then use either Collinite 845 wax or Jescar powerlock plus sealer and then the collinite 1 or 2 coats.

if I am just doing a quick wax one step I use 3D Speed - All-In-One Polish & Wax which I still find I put a coat of Collinite on top of anyway. just adds a bit more slickness. plus ( 2 coats of wax)

I have and do use from time to time 3D Poxy which is also a good wax some times I will do a coat of Collinite and top it with that. but I do find I use this more now on painted rims. seems to hold up well to brake dust.

then its just a matter of how bad the car is. do I use the yellow pad and polish, or green pad and polish. so on the Mazda / Jeep as I didn't do much with it last year, maybe 1 clay bar and it got wax once, with the baby on the way then and stuff still going on in the house there wasn't much car time, and my father in law picked up the black stang im doing now so I wanted to make sure that had a good clay bar and coat of wax out the gate because his at the time more so lack of detailing I didn't want the paint scuffed or marred. now he has a whole chemical guys set up for this thing so he has started to enjoy the detail and years of listing to me he understands more what to do.

so with my 2 cars in not as best they have been shape I did use the Yellow pad and polish on both, with lots of blow outs of the pads and sometimes I would do half the car stop. wash the pad and get back to it. get everything out of it, ( jeep has 96,000k and the mazda about 220,000k)

The mustang being in better shape and with only 8,000 k and a good wash year I went the lighter approach with the green pad and polish, there were some areas. spot on the hood, lower bumper. rear fender "hips" and the lip spoiler I had to add a bit of rubbing compound with the polish and in the 1 step it came out beauty. so now that the whole car is polished, tomorrow I will dust it and give it a wipe down with some final touch spay ( clay lube, also a 3D product ) and then I will add the Sealer then remove let it sit a day. next day add the wax then remove, let it sit a day add one more coat / remove and in 24-48 hours after everything has cured and set up shes ready to go back out.

the reason for that is they do advise 12-24 hours for the wax to cure before going out and getting wet so if it is dry out all the power to take it out but with no where to go it can sit in the garage.

if you have any questions ask away!
