tabbed browsing is the best feature EVER!
Also, it uses less resources than IE, and is totally customizeable. It is open sourced coding, which allows for countless extensions and add ons to be intergrated right into it.

try it and you\'ll ask yourself WTF am i still using IE :D
I’ve been a Netscape and mozilla fan and now a lighter version of firefox since version 0.4 i think.. tabbed browsing is #1 thing that got me hooked .. on top of that it\'s free, it has a CRAP load of very useful extensions (forecastfox, and adblock to name a few) fully customizable themes and web pages look cleaner when using IE. it doesn\'t integrate with windows and it\'s much less susceptible to viruses and exploits. I have NEVER EVER gotten one of these XXX Adult links with firefox ;) and just one visit to a site with IE and baaam.. you\'r pc is infested.
Try it.. it’ll take a bit to adjust and for example the ‘glow’ text tag just does nothing when displayed in ffox (oh well it looks ugly IMO anyway) just follow the link in my sig and download one and you’ll never go back :D
EDIT: right on Xenon.. i was composing my reply while u were writing yours.. see, same things in common that are awesome features. :D

I am one of those who has gone back to IE as there is nothing revolutionary about FireFox. I have used mozilla/netscape for Linux at school and absolutely hated it cause websites would not display right and it had tabbed browsing which is not really much different than \"Open Link in New Window\" in IE which I always use. Resource wise I am sure Firefox uses less but I always find that IE starts up and loads pages faster. Firefox still uses that same Gecko engine from Netscape 6. Sure IE has its problems with security but it being the most popular browser it\'s understandable that people would try to hack it. Either way you still have to protect yourself with AV and Spyware software.
About the fact that FF is open source means nothing really. Open source is not a feature and has no benefits to the end user. IE has every concievable addon possible. And it is even easier to create addons for IE since it uses the COM standard that every windows program uses.
In my opinion IE serves my needs and as long as i keep it patched and protected it is great. Firefox is more of a novelty that gets most of its momentum from Microsoft bashing rather than being a vastly superior piece of software.
Try firefox for yourself as its a small download (5MB) to make ur own decision.:)

IE has NOT changed since omg.. how long ago was 6.0 released? FFOX has daily updates and fixes unlike M$ when they only release fixes when half the world is infected with a virus or hacked

you\'re totally right.. that was THEN.. now.. world of a difference.. sometimes i find that ffox renders the pages WAY better (of course not the ones designed solely for IE) and with a quick scroll of a wheel (while holding control/ctrl) you can adjust the size of the text to make things fit even better

open 10 websites.. 10 clicks to close IE, 1 click to close all of them in ffox.. the same? hardly

only b/c it\'s been shoved down our throats for those who use windows. I bet you if ffox was bundled as well you would SURELY see this trend change..

you\'re correct, you do have to protect yourself, BUT i am MUCH more at ease surfind with ffox and knowing that popups will get blocked and activeX scripts won\'t execute malicious code (i know.. you can tighten the security in IE and they won\'t run either.. but here you just sit back and surf) Also, AV is only as good as the most recent virus dictionary and sometimes even that isn\'t enough.
One time i ended up with some ad/spy ware.. ugh.. i used spybot and adaware along with NAV and those STILL didn\'t clean the reg entries properly.. only with some hacking around i cleaned it up by hand and it was a PITA.. only b/c i went to one site with IE

it\'s not a feature but a benefit to all.. if there was no open source.. there would be no competition for IE. This in turn would mean a monopoly (which kinda happened already) Micro$haft has no reason to better its product b/c it\'s the ONLY one. one MAJOR benefit that CANNOT be overlooked is PRICE.. open source is FREE and most of the time constantly updated and improved as well as it can be FREELY modified by the end user (can you do that with IE? nope)
Why do you think gov\'ts and major financial institutions (not to mention computer giants) are going into linux? b/c it\'s MUCH cheaper. If you do not see the benefit of \'free stuff\' while NOT sacrificng quality I don\'t know what else to tell you.

i\'m glad it works for you, i just wanted to see what others use (through the poll) and maybe show them something they haven\'t seen/used before.. in any case.. click on the link in my sig ;)

I\'m always a Mozilla/Netscape fan and using NS 7 for now... it has the tab feature which I liked it very much. I don\'t get as many pop-ups than IE as well, but how good is NS in terms of getting virus off the web? I\'m sure it\'s 10x better than IE but how good is it?
Sometimes I still need to use IE because only IE could read some of the scripts. What about Firefox?

that is one downside of ffox.. sometimes it has issues displaying sites that were designed \'for IE\' (eg. windowsupdate.. that one just won\'t let you use anything but their borwser) and others that have M$ specific scripts. for this i use the IE View extension (https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=35&vid=1179). with a simple rt click you can load that annoying webpage in IE
alternatively for those who use IE, you can see how a web page would look like in firefox by using the FireFox View Extension (https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=223&vid=1010) :D

IE: sux :p
FireFox: ROX :D
is that enough? basically the bottom line is. it\'s fresh(er), faster, safer, and much more customizable than IE. Unfortunately, some websites still cater to IE only, meaning you need to keep 2 browsers handy for those sites.. just download it, give it a shot and see if you like it
I wonder when google will release their browser.. i\'d like to see that one ..

For simplicity: Try Firefox if you don\'t like IE. It\'s the new kid on the block.

I don\'t know what you mean by changed. Bug fixes or features? Cause it got a built in popup blocker with XP SP2 and of course it has had many security updates since 6.0 (Not necessarily a good thing). Daily updates and fixes for FFox? That can\'t mean that they find problems with FFox on a daily basis.

That is entirely subjective to the viewer in question. I don\'t have problems with IE displaying pages incorrectly and I have never had to change the font size. Others might disagree.

So it comes down to measuring the speed at which one can exit a browser while viewing 10 websites at once. Unless you\'re viewing 10 porn sites at work there really isn\'t any reason for this test.:D

You took my statement out of context. I was saying that IE\'s problems are largely related to its popularity. If it wasn\'t so popular then people would not be trying to hack it. If FFox was in the same position it would have the same problem with people trying to hack it.

I had similar experiences with spyware (especially CoolWebSearch) but as I said above it is because IE is so popular. To my knowledge FFox does not support activex scripts or controls without a third party addon and that is why you won\'t be able to access Windowsupdate and other sites that make use of it. Flipspeed said he could not access the Mazda Parts Logistics program with FFox and that is because of activex scripts. Business uses of IE extend much farther than surfing the web, into database connectivity, remote access, and third party software integration. Those functions can only be used in FFox by creating custom Java programs.

If FFox is a huge success and a large percentage start using it then it would attain a monopoly and be subject to the same reasoning. A monopoly by itself is not a bad thing. IE is free. How many end users have created extensions who are not developers themselves. If you know how to develop software in windows you can create addons for IE (even in Visual Basic).
I agree that linux is much cheaper but we are talking web browsers here, both of which are free.

FFox is not Java based. Hence, like IE, versions were created to run on multiple OS (IE has a MacOS version). In fact the windows version of firefox uses COM otherwise it would not be able to run.
