Just curious to see what sports peeps play up in this club?
I grew up playing competitive and regional soccer till my early twenties.
Could play pretty much anything in highschool from basketball, tennis, badminton, baseball, floor hockey track/field, minor jui-jitsu type grappling(neighbour taught). Had that typical Black youth tall, lanky, agile lean muscular look.
Things changed in the mid 20\'s when I got to around 230lbs @6\'2\" and less agile especially when hitting the ground and not popping back up as fast, but I still moved quite well for my size and agility and high co-ordination type of sports. I felt powerful and brutish in finesse sports but the joints got lots of pain from moving like a lightweight with energy expenditure and profuse perspiration.
I do Shaolin Shadow Boxing, weight-training and floorhockey nowadays.

OMFG! I look like Rodney King. Took a slap shot to the eyball socket today and now it is turning purple with the stale blood pooling beneath. Shit, I have always put off eyewear till now.

Cricket eh? I find very few of the younger generation appreciate it, but it may have more skill than N.A. Baseball. I have W.I background so I know that Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, S.Africa, West Indies, England are the major international runners in that sport. I\'m assuming you are from S.E. Asian descent if you had played it to some serious level.
But damn, can those games go on forever.

You are right about my Decent.( New Delhi, India ) to be precise. Yes those games can go forever.
One day games are very popular, specially India vs pak. We also have a club here in toronto which plays league division, did not play at all last summer due to some family obligations.

What I don\'t understand about traditional cricket is why do they wear white if one is gonna get grass stains from diving etc?
Why does the traditional break consist of having hot tea? Playing in the damn heat I would be scrambling for Gatorade or at least Ice Tea.
I guess it is a British Commenwealth Gentlemen\'s game and tradition and class is kept.

lol. They do not drink hot tea in there Break, It is just the term Tea break.
White dress tradition is been kept since Britishers invented the game. One day cricket do see all kind of sizzling colors.

Hmmmm....
Take a look at my avatar...That will give you a hint of what I love to do...
I got back into biking about 6 years ago and now I\'m a total mountain biking nut. My wife and I both have two bikes each, one with front supension and one with front and rear suspension. We spend all spring, summer and fall riding. We\'re out at least 5 times a week, weather depending, and only really stop riding in the winter when the snow flies. Once that happens we move indoors and mount the front suspension bikes on a trainer and do 6o minute workouts 2-3 times a week.
We\'ve done races in the past, but now do it more for the fitness and just shear enjoyment of being out in the wooods. We also try to get away for at least a week and going riding in places we don\'t normally go. Last year we got married and spent our two week honeymoon travelling through North Carolina and Tennessee with our mountain bikes and our \'3\'...What a trip that was...

I\'m into mountain biking, squash and snow boarding. Love the hatch because I can easily throw my board in there. rbart4506, and all other mountain bikers out there - which bike rack did you get for your hatch (roof or hitch), i don\'t want to mess up the inside of my car. And where do you mountain bike around toronto? Here\'s my list:
-oak ridges
-kelso
-ravenshoe
-seaton
Hopefully, I\'ll be getting a FSR this year!

Tennis is my main sport - love the game. Wonder if there are any other tennis freaks on here. I used to mountain bike just as much, but unfortunately haven\'t been biking much the last couple of years. I have a Specialized Enduro.

Oh boy! There are some serious mountain bikers here. I guess my $99.97 Walmart bike is just a toy then. As for Poker.., a it can make a participant sweat when the stakes are high and the beverages to cool off one\'s nerves would be alcohol.;)

I\'ve got a sedan and I\'m using a Bones 2 bike trunk rack...It leaves some small marks on the bumper and trunk lid, but I\'m prepared to live with that...
I live out in Hamilton, Dundas to be exact, and the trails are a quick 5 minute ride from my door. Because of that the bikes don\'t actually make it to the car very often. We always mean to go places riding, but it\'s so convienent to just get on the bike and ride the trails at home. The only problem is the trails are pretty easy, but at least they are extensive.
Right now my wife and I are both riding older Gary Fisher Sugars and I have my eye on a new Trek Fuel EX or maybe a Titus Racer X...I\'d really love the Titus because it\'s pretty rare up here and suits the riding I do, but with a frame costing close to $2500 it makes it a bit difficult to swing...

Played Baseball for 18 years and counting. Played Provinically for the Scarborough Cardinals. I can hit anything, any speed, any location, any pitch as long as its across the plate, its gonna be tagged. Favorite position 1st base, don\'t do anything, get all the action all the time, also played a little 3rd base in my time and SS, hated the outfield with a passion. Always up for some Soccer, played in high school for Woburn Wildcats, but wasn\'t into all that much since the team was full of cry babies.

Take a look at Fisher, they make 29\" bikes (wheel diameter)...Better suited to the taller rider...A few other companies also make bikes that size...

I play basketball. but ever since i tore my ACL last year.. things have not been the same. I can\'t seem to stop though.. i\'m trying to strengthen my knee back to tip top shape but its a long long process. I\'ve been playing in leagues all my life and it just sucks that my mind thinks i can still play like i did before but my body does not agree at all..lol just my two cents.

ouch.. i know what it feels like.. i tore my ACL in highschool.. i played a tough guy and walked it off.. :sarc that same night i went to play shinny.. it was a bit uncomfortable but meh.. love hockey .. had to keep playing.. THEN later on i went to my swim practice and had to use pull-buoys b/c my knee hurt. i woke up the next morning and my left knee was twice the size of my right one. my dad took me to a doctor where he promptly drained 500ccs of fluid, yep half a liter of blood and crap my body produced in attempt to heal the injury.
i was misdiagnosed with a partial tear so i did physio and stuff.. but it didn\'t heal (almost a complete tear) so i needed a surgery. they replaced my ACL with my petulla tendon and two pins.. i was in the pool 3 weeks after the surgery and made a full recovery in 3-4months as opposed to the usual 6. anyway..
i swam competively for 5 years and then one more through first year at UofT but it took way too much time out of me so I didn\'t re-join for the following years. At the same time i picked up squash and love the game.. just recently (over last xmas) i bought all the hockey equipment i needed - on sale - and i play about 3 times a week (ice and ball) and love it!!!

Played Soccer for 22 years, and played for the AEK Athens Junior Team in Greece as a stricker for 4 months before coming back home to start University. East York C.I. Soccer(undefeated in 64 games) 1998 OFFSA Champions. Olympic Flame and East York Competitive Soccer.
1999-2004 University of Toronto Varsity Blues Football(running back), Toronto Argos tryout schedualed 1 week after I had torn my second ACL.
Now I just play mens league soccer in the St. Mikes Soccer League in the summers to keep in shape, and run at the University of Toronto\'s inside track in the winter to keep my speed up.

I hurt my knee 3 weeks ago. I went to the hospital and they did xrays and said that I had sprained it. For the first 3 days i really could not walk. When I started walking I notinced that I could not extend my leg fully nor could I bend my leg. I am now able to fully extend my leg but I am having problems bending it, with pain felt on the outside of my knee. I am just wondering if I might have a more serious injury, like a torn MCL?
majic - What were your symptoms? Did you get an MRI done? Did it get any better from you first hurt it?

I hurt my knee last year as well and they said that I had patella tendonitis (aka \"Jumper\'s Knee\"). I ended up going to physiotherapy for a few weeks and it eventually got better. But there were some times that the pain was intense, especially when I was driving long distances. Hopefully it\'s nothing more serious!

Well, during bball my knee locked up - i thought i tore the meniscus (cartilage) and it got lodged there. it finally let up. Then it was juts soreness when I twisted it or would jump/come to a quick stop (what the ligaments are designed to do)
when I went to the hospital, the x-rays were negative and the doc pulled and tugged on my leg (put right hand just under my knee-pit, upper calf creating a fulcrum in that spot, and the other hand as a counterweight just above my ankle on the front of the leg - too much give and that meant knee unstable, torn/damaged ACL) I think that\'s the best i can recall now.. Once it swelled/puffed up my range WAS limited (after the surgery too, but that was fixed with physio)
no MRI done and yeah now it\'s as good as it used to be - it does react to quick changes in weather occasionally but i\'m used to it by now and it\'s NOT bad..
