no matter what they say, that crap can cause some damage to your body, one being risk of extreme dehydration. In the first weeks you are supposed to drink water like there is no tommorow as alot is also pretty much trapped in your body within the first week(that is why it is guaranteed that you will gain about 10pounds instantantly) however all that is, is water! Your kidneys are definatelly at risk at all times! If you were to start taking this ..u should get up during the nite every 3 hrs or so and drink sumthin just to be on the safe side. but yah i wouldnt risk it with this garbage, kidneys are really important, when you are older and if your kidneys are bad u would feel like garbage all day long because of all the toxins still trapped in your body, definately nothing to look forward to when ure going to retire.
Im curious though, y would you want to start using this? Did u just reach that point where you arent progressing or what?

a few years back i was into workin out, and i concidered it. So I asked my dr and he told me about how some baseball player use to use it and he dropped down and died and they didnt know what caused it, so i guess it could of been a posibility that the creatine killed him. thats all i know about creatine hope it helps:)
personally id stick with protien shakes

Creatine helps you retain water, and from what I understand you are NOT dehydrated from it, due to water retention. I know people who have taken it, and NO issues. In fact when I ordered my protien I ordered a friend at work some Creatine. During the first week you are on a loading phase (if you want). 5 scoops, 5x a days, for 5 days. all this does it get it ini your system faster, for quicker results. out of everyone i know NO ONE has had any side effects, and all recommend it. I dont see the need for me, but will say i know trainers and marathon runners who all have used it, and like it.

I\'m pretty sure it was the ephedra drug in xenadrine - commonly used to lose weight. in any case, natural stuff (such as a well balanced diet and exercise) are best for weight loss but without you telling us when it\'s gonna be used for, it\'ll be hard to recommend it.
and yeah.. dehydration is the main cause of illness/side effects/death..
now, creatine monohydrate NH2-C(NH)-NCH2(COOH)-CH3 ;) is actually found in our bodies that supples our muscles with energy. about half comes from the meats we eat and the other half is synthesized from amino acids in the liver, pancreas and kidneys.
creatine supplements aid in ANAEROBIC (short bursts) exercises .. as well it\'s been studied it might have some added effect on mental abilities.
creatine also dehydrates you and it\'s not advised when you have a kidney problem/disease. short term effects have been good but long term effects haven\'t been studied fully. so really YMMV and take it at your own risk

actually creatine helps the skeletal muscles to absorb the water by dehydrating the rest of the body.
it\'s also not a form of doping and it\'s acceptable by all sport governing bodies

You got it Majic!
in 1999 alone in the US 2 and a half MILLION KGs of Creatine were consumed. I think the problem is, is that people view Creatine as a \"Steriod\" or Pharamone. It is not. Our bodies produce Creatine naturally, and I think 90-95% is stored in the muscles. I have not personal seen any studies suggesting that there are side effects, but than again I havent looked.
I guess my point is, if you are looking to bulk up a bit, and are looking for something outside of shakes, and the obvious diet/workout etc, creatine is probably the safest and most widely used supplement. While it has been around in the US/NA for only a few decades, it has been used for MANY years in Russia/Germany with great success.

Majic, you are right, the risk of dehydration greatly multiplies when using this. when working out, no matter how much everyone hits a wall. well my wall was hit.im just researching this right now and am not considering it yet. i dont drink alcohol or smoke and am pretty healthy. my kidneys are very important to me.
Your body does produce its own creatine, but not in the amounts to gain results, its not like i need to get bigger, its just frustrating when you hit the wall.
but then on a down side its all water weight, so as soon as i stop working out...itll all be gone...

Cycle it for 6weeks then come off! for 3-4 months. Your body, especially your pituatary gland and liver will have to get back to regularly producing the new recommended and demanded insulin levels and other shit. Oh Yeah drink lots of water as usual.

Oh yeah! BTW What are your specs or \'tale of the tape\' and goals?
This is quite important to know your age, height, weight, bone structure, genetics, and your goals.
This will help in determining what you will and can become to your best genetic potential.

Well im 5\'10\". my dad was a fitness freak. he competed in MR.Universe in 1978 i think and came in 4th place. my specific goals are to be able to hit 180 190lbs. right now im 175lbs with 8% body fat. i recently had a body composition done so thats why i know my stats.Im 23, today is my birthday actually...yeah baby, gifts.....back to the question. my build or bone structure would have to be a medium build. i dont want to be huge, as i know what the effects look like once you stoped working out (DAD). but even at 47 i think he is, hes still stronger then i am. Its kind of embarrasing that your father at that age is stronger then me.lol

That\'s a reasonable goal and good starting specs. Awesome bodyfat percentage too. It seems as if good genetics and father to son knowledge is on your side. Age is on your side and your still developing I guess. How tall is your dad?, your dad\'s and mom\'s brothers?

my father is 6\'2...his one brother is 5\'11 and my other uncle is 6\'1. i dont know about if im still growing height wise, i like the height i am right now, i just need to de alot of research. I talked to my father about this and he\'s content on telling me not to use this stuff. i said that they had drugs back in their day, and his reply is always the same, those were different times. i was always into working out. i just like it, i dont want to be HUGE or anything, a few years back when i was like 9 -10 yrs old, i had a picture taken with my father and arnold swartzeneeger ( or how ever you spell that), but ever seeing him in person and how massive he really is or was back then has made me want to work out ever since. although i didnt start until like grade 11 of highschool, so i started late, but whatever..i have a lot of research to do!

I\'ve got a buddy from highschool who is a professional body builder, and everything that I\'ve learned about supplements can be summed up in the rule of \"SOME\'s\"
SOME supplements will work
for SOME people
SOME of the time
what works extremely well for one person can have little or no effect in similar doses in another person of similar dimensions. Also, you may see benefits using Creatine and then after constant use over a period of time you may notice the benefits dropping off.
Basically, if it works for you and it\'s used in moderation (or at least responsibly) then give \'er!
Do your research and stay healthy :)

Good write up man.. Your right, as long as supplements are used at a reasonalble level and notover doing it, it should be ok. I agree in doing lots of reasearch first as i am doing now. theres always a risk with anyting you do. Different people do react to different things differently. good advise man.
