I thought I would try my luck here and see what happens.
I have a lexmark X85 which I have had problems with ever since day one. I have lost the receipt but I have had it just less then a year. I have gone to the Best Buy where I bought it from but there is nothing that they could do for me. I would have to spend 100 dollars for them to just look at it. It is not worth it as I could by another all in one for just over that price.
I was just wondering if anyone works at Best Buy or any where else for that matter that could help me out. I do not want my money back but want another printer that is half decent as this printer is totaly not worth the 300 dollars that I spent for it.
Anyones help would be gratly appreciated.

hey that is funny it just happened to me too . . . all of a sudden mine stopped working, the feeder just busted itself! go figure, so anyways i wanted to fix it cause i thought it was fixable, i mean its just one part right?! so i called mds where i bought it, they said they don\'t fix printers . . . they gave me lexmarks service number to locate a fixer place, called and said they don\'t fix them either . . . so then i called lexmark and the guy told me bluntly to go buy another printer because those models are just \'disposable\' printers LOL so the guy who works at lexmark pretty much told me their printers at least the X85 are hunks of crap! haha it was really funny, so i just ended up buying a brand new one, not lexmark thats forsure.
so i\'d say just buy a new one, especially one with way cheaper ink, lexmark ink is way overpriced anyways, or else you\'ll have to hassle more to try to find someone whos gonna fix it!
sorry, its common for poeple to have such bad luck with lexmark priners!

I will have to second that opinion of Lexmark printers. The only reason why I had a Lexmark printer was because it was the prize in a digital photography contest that I won. The (network) printer was a PITA to set up, the software was a piece of crap and it was as loud as anything upon startup.

I never buy Lexmark printer, but my friends were, and yes they suck and the ink is as expensive as HP but with less quality. I have around 5 HPs when I started using inkjet, never had a problem (touch wood), and the ink now is much cheaper than before.

My suggestion would be to call Lexmark directly @ 1-800-LEXMARK. I used to own one and one of the print cartriges that i had purchased from radio shack was deffective. I called them up and without any problems they sent me a new one within 2 business days. Retail goes for about 50 dollars, so i was pretty impressed. I\'m sure there is some sort of number on the printer (product ID?) that would identify when it was made and if it\'s still under warranty. They have a office in Richmond hill or Markham i thin, but not sure where they do warranty repairs.
If you take into account the shipping of the printer, considering the size it will probably cost a bit... You mentioned you don\'t want a new printer, but i\'ll suggest it anyway... Buy a new one... not worth the hassle (if you\'re going to spend about 50 dollars).

What is the original warranty on the printer? If it is still in warranty, then lexmark is obligated to either repair or replace. As they are in the GTA, you could likely drop off to avoid shipping costs.
As well, do you have copies ot the service records as it was giving you problems? If you have documented history they should be willing to help.
If the person you call on the phone is not willing to help, escalate and ask for a duty manager or shift supervisor. They will try and assist.
