is it just me or the rear wiper is the worst wiper of them all? it streaks and loses contact no matter how often i clean it.
i went to crappy tire and had a look at the wiper arm springs. they would work on the front wipers but not the rear - just b/c its built differently.. what do you guys do for the back? get a new blade/wiper (13\" or 14\") what kind? anyone had any success with it? thanks

I\'m the opposite.
When I first bought the car, the front bosch ones were the worst. The rear wiper was actually the best of my wipers.
I have since replaced the front ones with the Motomaster Teflon blades, now all three blades work relatively the same. All three wipe clearly with minimal streaking.
I do find however, if there is insufficient moisture (like when using the washer fluid Mist) on the front windshield, my right blade tends to miss a patch around the passenger\'s line of sight. In rainy weather where there is excess moisture, the wipers work perfectly fine.

dude.. i didn\'t ask if your FRONT wipers were awesome or not. i have beef with the REAR wiper and i\'d like to see what others with a problematic rear wiper are doing.
i already read your other thread where you stated that your rear blade was the best wiper on earth, i asked for a solution to my shi77y rear wiper problem... you gave me this
me: man my SUV sucked 15L/100km on the last tank, anyway i can fix it?
you: oh my corolla does 6L/100km, it\'s a great car

I too have this problem with the rear wiper.. I was talking to Majic about it the other day... I haven\'t come up with anything to fix it though. It\'s kind of annoying that the wiper misses some key patches in the back.. someone think of something quick!!! ugh

Hmmmm... I have the same problem until I push the rear wiper in intermittent mode. It seems that the rear wiper needs to warm up or something. Try to leave it on intermittent, and see if it works in 3 min.
I do, however, have problems with the mechanical sound of the rear wiper. Is it normal to hear noticeable sound from the wiper hinge?

heh warming it up :p well i do use the defroster and it helps a bit, but not much. the wiper isn\'t as bad in the rain as it is in the snow (not to say it\'s anywhere near ok) but in the snowy season if you leave it in intermittent, OMFG it\'ll streak and smear your whole window (not enough moisture, too much salt/road grime)
hmm maybe we can see at the next meet, normal (sound from the hinge) to me could be abnormal to you ;)

lol thanks Majic... As for the \"warming up\", you\'d be surprised at how well it works for me... Nonetheless, I\'m quite pissed that the wipers have been a pain to me for any car I own it seems :p

Me too have the same problem, I was thinking to go back to the dealer, yell the hell out of them and ask them to change a new one for me. Dunno if that\'s possible......:D

Never had a problem with the rear wiper. Changed the fronts recently and now the windshield is as clear as when new. BTW, I clean the all the windows with Stoner\'s Invisible Glass and I only use Rain-X (yellow) WWF.

I\'ve used the Rain-X also and the wipers seem to work a bit better with it. I recently put it on the Rear window of my hatch and it helps. I guess since the rain or whatever isn\'t \"sticking\" to the glass as well, it comes off easier.

rain-x seems to be the only solution thus far :(

How \"old\" are your rear wipers? I only ask because our rear wiper works great, but in fairness the car is only seven months old. How frequently does Mazda suggest that it be swapped for a new one?

I would imagine that wipers need only replacing every few years. My mom owned a Subaru SVX for 14 years, we only replaced the wipers 3 times.
Maybe Mazda just went a little cheapo on the wipers?

Hmm, I\'ve found that every one of our cars has required a change of wipers on an almost yearly basis. Not by the dealer or manual\'s instructions, but simply from a performance aspect. I don\'t mind though, it\'s only about $20-25 per car per year.

I don\'t have any problem for rear one, cause barely use it. But front pairs, I changed total of 3 pairs for 2.5 yrs usage.
