So here it goes....

I\'m going to start the talking to dealers now that I\'ve checked out the boards today. I have a trade in that is worth between 2 - 4k...i\'ll settle for 2.5k.

So for a M3 GT Sedan Auto/GFX/Leather and an estimated 6% discount off the MRSP of 24,440...can u tell me if this would be a good deal?

MRSP - 24,440
Less Discount - 1,466.40
Less Trade In - 2,500.00
Plus Freight/PDI - 925
Plus Gas Tax - 75
Plus Air Tax - 100
Plus Admin - 150
Plust GST/PST - 3,258.54
OTR = 24,982.14

So for all the Mazda Sales guys and everyone else on this board...is this realistic? can I get more? is this a dream? can I negotiate lower?

Can\'t wait to start haggling!!!!

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I recently purchased a Sport GT and almost got that much of a discount, though I got 5 speed and no leather, so there was slightly less mark up in it for them.

Oooook... I THINK I may do better

Call up Avante Richmond Hill... ask for Jeff Holley...

Tell him that Christine Chui sent you, give him the specs of what you want, give him the prices you just listed,... and just ask him if he can do better. I\'m pretty sure that he can! Jeff has honestly done a lot for me, and some of my friends....

Pokerface_69, the price sounds pretty good, bt like Saphress says, there is no harm in calling another dealership to see if you can save even more money. Good luck!:D

I got exactly the same car (model, specs) for $24,200 OTR.

Is a 6% discount a reasonable offer?

i don\'t see how you got that OTR price unless u slept with someone at mazda

dealer cost for that car is: Based on october \'04 research

Base Price $20,014.00
paint - metallic - $86.00
ATX - $900*
Leather - $800*
GFX - $900*
Freight+PDI - $925.00
Air Tax - $100.00

* those prices are estimated as i never needed them (bought a hatch) and they are based on AC costing $933 ($1000MSRP) so i was being really generous

total is $23725 + $3558 tax = $27283 so lets even say $27000 and you\'re saying you bought it for almost $3K BELOW dealer cost?

superjohn: you should be able to get about 500 off BASE price and about 50-100 for each of your options.. so 600-800 off MSRP should be realistic IMO.. this is the least you can ask for without a grimace on their face i\'d say.. of course you can haggle more :) good luck! the trade in will help you to lower that amount and the taxes you pay!

If you have the time and around $30.00 to spend check out this website:

www.carcostcanada.com (http://www.carcostcanada.com)

You can purchase a pricing report which will give you the actual dealer cost for the vehicle. I used it when I was negotiating mine. I did get a bit of a discount however I bought back in July when the car was still hot in the market.

He had the $2500 trade-in, that\'s why the price could be that good.
Thanks

That should be the least to expect nowadays. I walked in and without even breaking a sweat got $1000 off the MSRP, the only catch was that I made them aware I was ready to buy that day. I ended up getting about an $1,150 discount off MSRP not including the taxes.

Tis true; I bought my car on the last Saturday of August at 5:55pm (Dealership was closing at 6).
Literally bought my car in 5 mins
It also helped that it was end of the month or something like that

Yeah, I waited to buy at the end of the month too, they never once said no to me! I asked for a certain figure, they said yes, I asked for wheel locks, they said yes, it was the perfect car buying experience, now we just need to pick it up!
