well,
lol i very recently did my calipers red with the dulicolour kit. it was really easy rofl, the hardest and scarriest part, was jacking up both sides with 2 OEM mazda3 jacks. like man, it was just so nervve wrecking having the car in the air, wiht that being said, after that leap of faith that it wont fall over, it was easy.
duplicolour gives u the bruish, cleaner, tape, and like paint. take off the rims, spray the cliper with that cleaner stuff, and just paint. lol that stuff u spray literally requirs almost no wiping at all, once sprayed the stuff thats on it, just falss onto the ground in a liquid formm or gets shot off somewhere else.
haha i have 3 layers of red on mine, looks really nice. its more fun, and better for you, if u have a friend to help you out! btw so far i did a 2.5rs and my mazda3 with 2 coats on the rs and 3 coats on my mazda3, and there is still ALOTTTT of paint left, so it would be mor economical if u have like 3+ people wanted ot do it to cut the costs.. lol
took me 4 hours to do my front and back, including jacking time and prepping time. so 1 hour each caliper. it was fun! =D

I think it\'s around $12 a kit, comes with the cleaner, paint and brush. It dries fairly quick.
Rust paint is an alternative but it takes much longer to dry. Mine was completely dry in 8hrs I think.

Sounds like you want to pink your ride :D .. like this (http://www.speedycars.net/wallpaper/mazda_2.html) ...
I don\'t like colour painted calipers very much. Say for red calipers - it\'s like trying to imitate something you don\'t have (in this case maybe red Brembo calipers).
I might be interested in painting mine with silver Rustcheck to cover and prevent more rust though.

Yeah I know what you mean. I used to not like coloured calipers either. I used to think it looked kinda tacky. I don\'t know..I just started liking it though haha. Mine\'s so rusty =(.

i had autoexe photochop my calipers with GM rims.. and red did look best, white and gold were too bright and stood out too much and black dissappeared. keeping it 2-tone (red and GM) will look pretty nice.. and red will look good with stock rim colour as well. see ya at the meet :) thanks!!
ya, i\'ll stick with the red :D

That Mazda decal makes it look even better.
Nice job.
Does anyone know where you can buy other paint colours ???
I\'m looking for the brush-on type, not spray can.
Canadian Tire only carries 5 colours. (Red, Silver, Black, Yellow, Blue)

I didn\'t think so either.... but I saw blue at ONE Canadian Tire.
Unfortunately, I can\'t remember which one it was. :(
I\'ve been to five CT stores this week, looking for other colours.

uh no ... it\'s for the compliment of the caliper and NOT to try to mimmick another product. stock calipers don\'t look anything close to brembo\'s so anyone that does it for that reason, betta\' check yoself.
this is the same as saying people that go with the H2 stubby are try to fake that they have a H2? :sarc pwned

how did u guys paint your calipers ? did u use a brush-on-paint? or spray? did u take off the caliper or simply paint it while still attached to rotor?

i used VHT high-temp caliper paint SPRAY .... left the caliper right on the rotor, while I just masked out the part that I didn\'t want to spray on. Saran wrap works best and then some newspaper to mask out the rest of the wheel well..
applied 1 layer at a time and would move from caliper to caliper, byt the time I did all four, the paint was dry enough to do a second coat on the first one and go from there.
DRYING time was nothing, as I finished it... started unwrapping the saran, I prolly waited 40mins, put my summers back on and started driving...

lol junior ... i just return my VHT spray, i thought that the spray would get everywhere
instead, i bought the dupli-colour caliper kit from walmart . based on ppl\'s replies... painting seemed much easier than spraying .
now all thats left is to paint my baby... red calipers on white !!!

honestly, ppl make it seem like it\'s sooo hard... IT\'s really not, just takes more time and patience, but if you don\'t have that, then you\'re prolly better off brushing it on ... anyhow GL

Save some pop cans or soup cans, cut them half open and spray the paint into the can... then brush on.

Hey guys!
Just bought my mazda3 sport about a month ago and this is my first car ever! Im still pretty hyped about it even tho my bank roll juss dissappeared. Anyways the car-honeymoon is over and its time to get down to biznatch...first on the list is my calipers, I bought this thing used and from what I can tell the calipers seem really rough to the touch as if their starting to rust. Should they be painted when in this condition or should I sand them down or somthing? I tried to access the guide to the breakkit installation but got a 404. Any help/suggestion would be sincerely appreciated.
Btw-titanum3 your calipers look real pimp mon! I\'d buy that for a dolla :P

Hey Verbal, Welcome to the forum.
I sanded my Calipers when I painted it. It will look smooth if you sand it. This is probably the hardest thing to do when painting Calipers.
Good luck. :)
Hi there. I'm from Mexico and just bought a true red Mazda 3s sedan. I'd like to paint the calipers but I'm hesitating about what color would be the best. I've thought of red or black. What do you think?
Thanks in advance

Do these cars come with drums in the back on the lower end models? If so... then for God's sake don't paint them anything other than flat black!
As for calipers... I think they look good in red or any other colour that matches the car. Hell, red looks good with any colour just because they do that on Porsche's and stuff. Apparently red = sporty. Maybe red's the new yellow? :)
