View Full Version : wind noise from Hood deflector
Hi Everyone,
It\'s been a week now since I installed my hood deflector on my 3 sedan. When traveling at 60 kph and above, I hear wind noise coming from the passenger side\'s end.
Any suggestion that I should do? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if there is a fix for the wind noise, had a deflector on my last car, Cavalier seemed ok. Where did you buy your hood deflector from?

Only from the passenger side?? Make sure the deflector is installed tight and not \"flying\" at high speed. If problem remains, take it back to the installer or where you bought it.
Hi,
I got it from Mazda (Scarborough). It\'s an original, with a logo and name MAZDA on the drivers end. I had that for a month or so (in March) before I install it. I had it sitting in my Apt (away from heater) standing up leaning on a corner wall. I don\'t think it got twisted because the deflector seems to be a bit flexible.
Though, when I installed it, the right inside (driver side) clip does not really hug the hood. there is a gap between the plastic support and the clip. The screw is pretty tight and I dont want to go further .... it might crack.
I read it here somewhere, that someone installed a deflector with a blow-dry.
thanks for your reply Ron, Chaser.

Exact same problem I\'m having... I hear at speeds of 50km/h and up... when I\'m going around 120km/h it sounds like a plane is flying right above me :sarc ... I took it to the dealer to make sure it was installed properly (i did it myself) and it was... Once i go to FX Auto to get my tinits done, I\'m going to take it off and get the 3m film installed.
It\'s too annoying.

That\'s too bad Ex-Rolla. How about those buttons, did they really fit between the hood and the deflector? I used the 2 large ones in the middle and 4 tall ones. Actually this is my second hood deflector, my first one only lasted 24 hours. I\'m not sure if I over tighten one of the screws or it was vandalize.
I might take it off too.

I initially used the supplied template, but once i actually installed the hood deflector, the buttons weren\'t even close to the hood deflector. the buttons were so far up the hood that there was basicallt no point in using them. I took them all off, and placed the rubber things where i thought it would work best using my past experience on my other car for reference.
when i rech blistering speads of 130km/h :p I can hear the bottom on the deflector hit my grill due to the imense downforce hahaha... I now have 2 lines on my grill because of this crap... kinf hard to explain so I\'ll take a pic.
Word of advice to anyone contemplating purchasing the hood deflector... Don\'t
the marks are not that noticable, but I know it\'s there so it just bothers me..
Here\'s a pic of what i\'m talking about
