View Full Version : Stubby antenae

I received my stubby today from shortantennae an ebay reseller. This thing fits perfectly without any cutting whatsoever! I know some of you spent over $40 bucks on an H2 part - but this part was cheap at just over $17 bucks. Great reception and fit and finish better than the original. An added benefit is that it makes the vehicle appear lower!
Check it out on ebay - they have many different styles - I got the black (natch) 3.5\"

Stubby looks good.
... And the price is right.

I\'ll keep him in mind when looking for a replacement,
After somebody swipes my H2. ;)

hey, look.. you thought this topic was dead........

I guess I am one of the last ones to get a stubby... after reading 18 pages of a previous discussion on stubbies, I went with the Suzuki one. 1 minute from my work, $24 and they had it in stock. Looks good to me, yes it could use a little trimming but I don\'t mind the slight overhang.
Shorter than the H2 and it is very flexible...

Great buy for those of you that haven\'t picked up a stubby...

SABIO

And.. Like I just found out.. You can\'t trim the suzuki stubby... it leaves a gap between the base and the antenae...
So I just threw out $25..... Great..
Last time I take for granted someone knows what they are talking about.... right Flip:(

See if you can cut the thread to lower the whole antenna.

did you get the AERIO one? mine fits without any trimming (granted it\'s a bit fat at the bottom - overhangs - but i can live with it)

did you trim the sides or at the base? if at the sides (to decrease the circumference to sit flush) then you should have no gap. if you cut it at the base then that\'s your problem b/c nobody told you to trim it there :sarc

show pix. maybe you got the wrong stubbie? maybe they changed since Joe ordered them? (i\'m saying this b/c mine isn\'t really that flexible - so it might be a different stubby)

SABIO,

I own both the H2 and Suzuki AERIO stubby. I\'ve trimmed both but the best results was with the H2 antenna. The trick to trimming the AERIO one is not to trim too much or else there is a profound gap. I trimmed a little too much and there is a small gap if you walk right up to it, but if you just look at it from distance, you won\'t see it.

Check out this thread where I make comparisons between the H2 and AERIO stubby. You will see the pics in this thread.

http://www.freepgs.com/protege5mazda3/viewtopic.php?t=76

For those wondering, I don\'t use my H2 antenna more because it fits perfectly like OEM and I only bring it on photo shoots or if I\'m going to be by my car 24/7. Hahaha, so no one here better even think about stealing it. All you\'ll get is my AERIO stubby. :p

Yup.. pic three is what mine did look like... With the big gap... :(

Gonna try the H2 next.... gonna have to swing a wholesale deal with a friend, not paying $45 for an ant. But thanks for the feedback.....

I bought mine at Courtesy Chev.
Any Chev dealer should be able to get it for you.
They will have to order it in (1 day) because they don\'t stock Hummer parts.
$49.41 tax included. Part Number is 15175078

You have to cut 8mm of rubber off the bottom of the antenna to expose the screw.
It cuts easily was sharp knife..... and it looks great on the car.

Its not that bad. There is a gap but from far away you can\'t even tell. The pic I took was a super close up. The funny thing is I am 100% happy with my Aerio stubby. Its actually been on my car longer than my H2 stubby which I retired. Hey, if you don\'t want your Aerio stubby, pass it over to me instead of tossing it out. I know one of these days, my stubby is gonna get jacked when I park in the downtown clubbing district.

You could also try the Kia Spectra5 stubby(which you have to trim). It\'s the same as the H2 one and it is cheaper. Just a suggestion since the Aerio one didn\'t work out for you.

Just a head up for u SABIO, I got this EXACT antenna mounted on my same White Hatch, it was all looking good at the beginning. But just 2 weeks ago, i figured that 3 black surroundings on top WERE peeling off by itself, pretty surprising they were actually 3 small rubber inserted in the grid, and after months of sun/rain exposure, the robbers are broke into pieces and rib off from the grib, now my antenna just look a plain silver stubby w/3 white exposed grid on top!:(

I guess real smart ppl would truely know that different car has different antenna base, so they got no use of our antenna on their own car, except some other idiots were just being jealous about our 3s and wanted to screw our car somehow. Also I am confidenced that other Mz3 drivers are DECENT ppl who should not be stupid enough to unscrew my antenna.:D

I just installed the Enigma a couple of weeks ago. While I do notice some signal degredation here in Port Perry. I can clearly receive the bolded one\'s that Sabio listed above. My primaries are
92.5, 92.9, 94.9, 107.1

Keep in mind I\'m older than most of you kids on here so my tastes leans to the Hard Rock side. AC/DC is a mainstay in my CD player.

I prefer the tunes from my CD over any DJ - radio is for traffic reports and Howard Stern - makes a compelling case for Sirius addition in \'06!;)

I am very happy with my JDM stubby, I live in scarlem and didn\'t notice any signal lost at all. As a matter fact, in certain areas like Finch and Victoria Park, the reception is better then the original. With the original antena, every time I drive throught that area I get static and distortion which annoyed the hell out of me. I have notice any distortion with the JDM.
