Before I bought my car, I checked out Mazda of Toronto and was dealing with the \\\"General Sales Manager\\\" by the name of Rui. He was not pleasant to deal with, to say the least. I was so pissed off by the time I left that I almost didn\\\'t end up buying the 3. But my father convinced me that it\\\'s not worth it cause he knew how much I loved the car.
So, we ended up at Avante the same day and bought the car!!! Avante\\\'s awesome - both Claudio and Anne-Marie are great!!!
Just my opinion.

I\'ve dealt with Rui very briefly in the past, but he was very nice with my wife and I. Can you be more elaborate on your issue with him?

We had made a great deal and he said he\'d have to have someone in service look at the Protege to do a quick vehicle inspection. He came back and said that he couldn\'t give me that deal, which isn\'t right because the Protege was in mint condition. It was a 2001 and had 56,000 kms, had all maintenance, oil changes, etc... done at Mazda, no dents, scratches, etc..., he would have made some decent money on it. Anyway, he basically threw me out. He said now that we\'ve made a deal, he couldn\'t try to sell me the car because he couldn\'t give me the same deal he had promised previously.
He had 2 customers waiting and therefore he pushed me out the door. He told me to go to another Mazda and if they won\'t give you a good deal, then come back to me. Ummm, no way I was going back to him and I made that clearn to him.
First off, I don\'t know why he was trying to sell me a car while another customer was test-driving one. He should\'ve asked us to wait or come back. He wanted to do a quick 5-minute deal. Who buys a car in 5 minutes?
Anyway, he was just rude and short with my father and I. Everyone has different experiences with different people/dealerships...that was mine.

I never understand why people want to trade in cars to dealers that are in good condition. If your Protege was a beater than I would say okay, but it sounds like it was in good condition, just sell it privately and you\'ll get more money for it 100% My wife had a 2002 P5 with only 22K on it, and most dealers offered us $11K for it! We sold it privately in a couple of weeks for more than five grand more:sarc

My father begged me to sell the Protege privately, but I didn\'t want to have to go through all the crap. I live on my own and didn\'t want strangers coming to my house to test-drive and look at it or people I don\'t know calling me at home....just too weird for me! So, instead of all the showing, test-driving, money exchaing, tax paying, etc... I decided to just rid of it and move on.
Make sense? :)

Not really.... So you\'re saying you\'d rather not get the extra $5000 to put towards your new Mazda 3???
Yes, people may call you, and yes you will have people calling to drive the car,... but who cares? that\'s an extra $5000

I guess it makes sense to me in my own weird way. :)
Besides, I wouldn\'t have made $5,000.

When we sold our P5 we listed an e-mail address, and about 3/4 of all interested parties used that as the first means of communication. I was able to weed out the \"not too interested\" parties quite easily, and when the time came for somebody to come and look at it, I met them in a Honda dealership near my condo. I never once gave out my home phone, address, or any other data until we were signing the paperword to switch ownership to the buyer:)

Wish I would have though of all that!!
To be honest tho, for me it would still be a huge hassle. I work a lot and don\'t really have the time.

Hey that\'s cool, I\'m just trying to show who ever might be in that situation now that it is worth doing and doesn\'t mean you have to give up your privacy to do so:)

Don\'t be, the Protege is an awesome car. Even though my wife is driving a 3 Sport GT she is missing her P5 like crazy. It was just such a great car for the money, handled great, had a peppy engine, and the fit and finish was top notch. We just made the switch because the 3 had features that we really liked, and were just about out of warranty on the P5, and this was not gonna cost us any more per month!

I\'m in the same boat! My lease was up on the Protege and the buyback was WAY too much, otherwise I would have kept it for sure. The Protege is a great car!!

...only problem with pro\'s is the aftermarket support is going out the window, since the car is no longer in production :(

G\'Morn ... My main problem with my pro is trying to be original with the modding I do, but that\'s hard when there\'s nothing new available for me to work with... it\'s all the stuff that\'s already out and then just have to ad a personal touch to make it fresh and new ... (ala my \'mazda6\' style grille) as far as I know, I\'m prolly one of the only people I seen with it ... oh yea, PRO WUT!

funny you should say that, my bro is looking at the 3... but I\'m suggesting for him to hold out until the 3MPS hits the market, more power = more zoom (and sometimes, more tix :( )
meh... we\'ll see what happens

My gosh, if my car had any more power it would be too much for me.

^^ depends on what you use the car for?

I\'d like to see how much the MS3 is gonna sell for, cause I think the car is already a tad pricey (when loaded), so this might just take it to too high a level for this class of car. I guess if VW can sell the R32 then this should have a decent market too.
