Sort of an off-topic question, but does anybody know if that little black box that senses the rain is \"stuck\" to the windshield, or part of the windshield?

Got nailed by a huge stone on my way home from picking up my sills from Majic last Wednesday.
It put a nice fish-eyed chip in the windshield.... Car was only 28 days old. :(

Looked into getting a new windshield from Mazda. Price is about $750+tax.

Ended up just getting the chip fixed at Standard Auto Glass.
They did a good job. Just a small mark still visible.
... minor compared to what it looked like before the fix.
Insurance paid the whole bill ($60), and they said it wouldn\'t affect my rates.

It\'s a separate box that attaches to the windshield.

some insurance companies have a \'windshield\' claim that the person is able to file for, without their rates being affected. It\'s always good to know if your insurance company offers this option. Remember, NOT ALL insurance companies have this.

Great to hear you save a tonne of cash!
