Newlook

Quoted from Tuesday\'s (May 24) Toronto Sun:

Those charges were among the more than 1,300 laid by OPP officers over the Victoria Day weekend during Operation Fine Example.

Topping the list of motorists who \"just don\'t get the message\" was a Brampton man driving a Mazda 3.

Woolley said the 52-year-old, caught going 127 km/h on the 401 near Cambridge, got back on the highway and immediately resumed speeding, earning yet another ticket.

\"In 11 minutes and two kilometres, he lost seven points and $350,\" Woolley said.

Anyone here? LOL...

Got pulled over for doing 127... that must suck.

127?!? wow, I really didn\'t think that would make the top of the list! I remember reading stories about people getting pulled for doing something in the 200km/h range...even if he did get pulled over twice. but yeah, getting pulled for 127 sucks. making the news for getting pulled twice - that really sucks.

Geologic
05-24-2005, 11:15 PM
I always go like 140 on the 401 depending on traffic.. must suck getting pulled over for 120.

I guess the only reason this story even made the news is because he got two tickets.. all within a few km of each other. CityPulse/CP24 kept showing segments in the news today about all the bad drivers over teh long weekend.

Officer Woolley is a knob...he thinks he\'s god\'s gift to the OPP. A couple years ago I almost cost him his badge as he purgered himself while under crossexamination by me at my trial...needless to say I got off 4 points and the worship reprimanded him in front of the other officers and told him she would make an example of him if he tried that \"crap\" again in her court.

Loser!

T\'was a motorcycle;

http://www.pulse24.com/News/Top_Story/20050524-003/page.asp

“About 180 vehicles taken off the road. Everything from no brakes, to Fred Flintstone-floorboads to unsafe loads,” said O.P.P. Sgt. Cam Woolley. “Our highest speed was 300 kilometres an hour on a motorcycle.”

cant believe the biked stopped or it but then again, he\'s not ghostrider (edit: if you haven\'t seen the ghostrider films, I\'ll post some, just let me know)

well now he wont be driving for years, maybe even a decade...

i\'m pretty sure he got a life ban ... my questions is: if you\'re doing 300 km/h, why stop? just keep going, aint no cop gonna catch you :sarc

For our car, it\'s already 130 before you know it :D

I was thinking about this news this morning while going to work on the QEW.... was doing 130. Then I got carried away by something else and apparently my speed dropped to around 120. All of a sudden I saw an OPP curisor was tailgating me *SH!T*! I was still a little over 120 when I looked at my speed, but thank god he passed me *WHEW*

There was a time an OPP officer was tailgating me at 160 on the 401 heading into Kingston...I immediately signal and move into the right lane. Luckily he passes me without pulling me over. Needless to say, I drove like a granny for the rest of the trip. :p

Our cars cruise so nicely at 140-150km/h.

Hahaha I had a close call a few days ago too! Eastbound on Steeles at Kennedy Road in Scarb and there was a policeman and policewoman pulling aside what seem to be random cars. I didn\'t see any radar though. So I go my way crossing Kennedy and SH!T the policewoman seems to be pointing at me to pull over... but her eyes aren\'t looking at me!? I slow down but not braking hard. She continues to wave to pull over but as I get closer, I find out she\'s actually motioning the car behind me... OMG owned!!! chicken shiet for nothing. :D

LOL.. they have police parked at the Petro station to watch ppl speed and run reds. A friend of mine was at that intersection on steeles, turning right onto kennedy and it was a red light. He didn\'t stop completely, just kinda braked and slowly moved forward and went for it. He got pulled over and got a ticket for not stopping completely. Mind you this was at 5AM!! there were absolutely no cars and he was still checking to see oncoming traffic..

It\'s about time they put some cops at Kennedy and Steeles!!!! Because of a redlight runner I had my first 3 written off. :(

Cop charged me for \"Turn Not In Safety\"... mofo

Month after the accident I get a letter from a claims company stating the other party (old woman) wishes to sue me for injuries...

Wish I had chimp\'s avatar cuz it was exactly how I felt ... \"You know what? **** YOU\" after I read the letter. Some people in this world (anyone sense how much I hate this world sometimes?) :)

i don\'t know if flashing the highbeams is a good idea, maybe you haven\'t thought that one through properly... but if someone is ready to turn and they see you flash them, they might think that you just gave them a signal that it\'s OK to go ... mehh at least that\'s what I would think

Guys, c\'mon!

Anyone over 50? That is not the demographic that causes 95% of the road carnage. It is the under 25 demographic. That is why cops have so little time for careless driving from people in this age group. Ever stop to think about what cops have seen on the roads every day? Prying out the goo that used to be a person and his family due to some sh*thead driving irresponsibly because he wants to impress his girlfriend and get laid? Anyone under 25 is considered by the police, judiciary AND the insurance companies to be \"high risk.\" And anyone reading these posts can see why! Flashing your lights when you\'re about to run a yellow? Good God. Ever thought of slowing down and obeying the law? Of course not. What right do you have to endanger the lives of innocent people going about their daily lives? Who will pay them for their losses if you hurt them or worse?

Well, I am not quite 50 but close. And guess what it costs me to have full insurance on my M3 GT (comprehensive etc)? - about $700. Is that discrimination against the young? No, it is analytically assessing the risks of young drivers like some of the ones who post here.

All I can say is that some of you boys have a lot to learn. But I\'m just an old geezer so what do I know, eh?

Junior
05-25-2005, 10:28 PM
you make some good points there flyboy, and i commend you for stepping up to set us \'young crazy\' guys straight .... :sarc

i think for your 25 under thing to hold value tho, the person dirving needs to have a FAST car,, i mean I could try to push my slow pro, but I aint gonna do shiet by speeding ...

under 25 and over 50 should prolly fall into the same category then, (???)

when people age they begin to deteriorate, and that means that there eye sight and reflexes slow down, some age quicker than others.. and there is no way to tell which are gonna cause the accidents,...

I hold this tru to my heart cause my Pro was rear-ended by a 57 year old driver, funny thing is my car was parked? he said \"oh, i didn\'t see it\" ... like WTF my car is only RED, how the hell do you miss a big RED PARKED car... sorry flyboy, you need to convince me some more ...+

Everyone knows how busy Kennedy Rd and Steeles Ave is, right? It\'s one of the busiest intersections in this part of TO. With that said... there was NO ****ING WITNESS!!!!!!!!!!!! My gf went around asking people, the cop went around asking people, the tow truck driver went around asking people. Ho Lee Fok. So no witnesses ... for all I know that old lady coulda told the cop I was turning on a red.

I\'m 26 BTW and I was going merely 5km/h if anything... inching out to begin my turn.

Just stop the hate people. I\'ve seen both young and old morons doing stupid shiet behind the wheel.

what goes around comes around, the old geezer (I guess I\'m not wrong to say she deserves to be called that) will get it.

But seriously, I cant believe there was no witness. I would have AT LEAST given you my number and drove off (if I was in a hurry). Disappointed in ppl these days. <-- saying that when I\'m 20, is sad in itself.

To be honest, the under 25 age group is PICKED ON. yes you read correctly. \'Trying to act cool infront of friends/gf/girls/\', thats like before you turn 18. I actually drive a lot more passive with ppl in my car. Insurance rates should depend on how many years of driving experience you have (too bad its impossible to count hrs on the road).

I can easily say I drive better than my dad, not cause I know how to weave through traffic (I was somewhat an idiot when I first got my license) but because I know how to predict traffic. For example, I see a LOAD of brake lights on 500KM ahead on the DVP, I\'ll slow down with the antipation to brake. (my dad wont notice, not saying every dad is like that).

A lot of immgrates (not discrimating here) whom has never driven before (e.g. like many chinese moms), ARE the cause of road rage. Turning a right turn at 10km/h during rush hour, doing their make up when driving, never checking their blindspot, braking last minute, etc. They should get charged with high insurance preimums.

I can go on, but u probably wont read it, lol.. so i\'ll stop my rant here.

^ I think a lot of Chinese aunties are pretty bad drivers. Just go to any Chinese mall and you\'ll see plenty of see lais that can\'t park, can\'t drive properly, can\'t drive smoothly. A lot of people don\'t understand the concept of braking smoothly and not jabbing on the brakes at every single oppurtunity or riding the brakes down a slope. Automatic transmissions don\'t help either.

In fact - I got hit by one on Highway 7 last summer. Didn\'t check her blindspot, cut into me and clipped my front bumper. Must\'ve been a new immigrant - she couldn\'t understand ANY word English. Thinking back I shouldn\'t have complied and spoken Chinese to her. Anyhow, she knew my insurance was insanely expensive and I wouldn\'t want to make ANY type of claim. She took advantage of that I ended up having to PAY HER for the damages on her car and fix my own out of my pocket. By the time cops came she had left and they said they weren\'t able to do anything since it was a minor collision involving under $1500 in damage and that nobody was hurt.

I think a good measure of driving experience would be the actual mileage that you have covered since licensed - but unfortunately it doesn\'t work that way.

wtf, u got owned (no offense).
Itz amazing how some \'C lais\' have no common sense or they try to frame you.

I almost got framed once. Pretty funny, (props to golden times security). C lai waiting for a spot (not mine), I was about to leave, my hood is 1/4 out of the spot. I spot a mini-van backing up towards my hood, so I honk. shes a WHOLE foot from my car.
She says I HIT her car, theres a scratch mark on her bumper. No mark on my car.

She says I did it, I told her if our cars made contact there will be marks on my car. Let alone the paint left on her bumper was white (my car is baby blue). Shes says and i quote \"Don\'t think I dunno anything, I\'ll call the cops\".
I got PISSSSED OFF, \"CALL BITCH CALL\" she didnt call so I whipped out my cellphone called the cops. they said \'we don\'t do parking lot accidents\'. I found the security guy that was on duty told him what happened, and he came over. argeed with me.

she left in embrassment.

I HATE C LAIS, arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

(we can use some angry smiles on this board =p)

EDIT: they censored out that word and not bitch, wow.

Talking about C lais... My mom is actually pretty good at driving. When she\'s driving, no complaint from me...

Just another +1 to sterotypical woman/C lai drivers, hahaha

I\'ve over 50hrs a week on the road, I see all kind of stupid drivers and the sh!t they do. You have to have enough experience on the road to \"predict traffic\" as Fuman said, which is in fact defensive driving. So for those under 25ers, let\'s put them as \"not enough driving experience\" to do defensive driving then... :sarc

And flashing your highbeams when you\'re running an amber is definitely not a good idea. Just go thru the intersection safely, and watch that car waiting for the left turn.... prepare for some hard braking if sh!t happens.

For those who\'ve driven enough... you know it\'s not a good idea to turn left when it\'s amber. And not a good idea to turn even it\'s red! I don\'t make my turn until I see the oncoming traffic is actually slowing down for the light...

thats what ppl are suppose to do!
u ppl are right on the high beam thing. I stopped that now, although it never failed, I\'m stopping, lol.

On top of that ppl gotta know how their car is going to react in extreme weather conditions. Which is why I\'m glad I screw around in empty parking lots when it snows. Handbrake has saved me twice cause I was hydroplaneing

Hey, I have to assume that M3 drivers as a group, regardless of age, are more intelligent than the average driver out there. They have to be since they had the brains to pick this car over all the underpowered, crappy econo-boxes.

Having said that, I would just ask people to drive cool. Remember there are kids in those other cars, normal people who just want to get home alive and unhurt, or pick up their kids from school. The insurance companies probably do pick on the under 25\'s a bit too much but their data shows that this group makes most of the claims.

So why don\'t you young \"whipper-snappers\" (haha lol) prove the cops and insurance companies wrong and drive cool. I\'ll wave to you from my M3 GT (titanium grey) when I see you. :D

for you complaining \"C lai\", should meet with those MEN driving 18 wheelers, I drive at Derry Rd near PIA everyday, many times you have to make a hard braking to avoid those \"fruckers\":p changing lane without signal; driving too slow on the left lane, but no intention to make a turn at the next intersection, and the list goes on.

Actually not only Chineses \"c lai\" don\'t know how to drive/park, many others female, sorry not discriminating anyone, also drive quite crazy, too. of course no matter young or old males don\'t know how to drive well. We don\'t require them to be the best drivers, but at least don\'t cause others to hit, or be hit by them.

I agree some of them are really bad drivers, but I feel for them sometimes. Try to jump in that seat and drive down a busy street like Derry Rd. Too bad if you want to change lane, since no one would let you in. So I understand sometimes why they block the left lane, and they probably looking for a street or driveway. It\'s unlike driving a car which if you miss a driveway, you can make a U-turn or turn around at the Mcdonalds. 18 wheelers can\'t! And not all the streets they can use....

And try to accelerate in that thing with 10 something gears and double clutch... if you complain why they\'re so slow.

I can understand they might be intimidated by the large volume of cars, but some stuff is ridiculous. I was at Metro Square and was waiting for a parking spot. After the car pulled away, I drove passed the spot to back in. I was honked at from behind & yelled at for stealing her parking spot. I was waiting for 3mins for the spot. I just couldn\'t believe I was having this argument.:sarc

Hahaha something similar happened to me a year ago at a non-asian mall parking lot. I just kept my cool after getting out of my car, alone. I gave the young lady who was bitching from her driver\'s seat, my middle finger. She just drove off and I can still see her bitching to herself. Sure lady, you\'re all right to blame someone who waited a few minutes, PARKED, waiting for that spot and when it finally opens up, you come along, signal, but sorry I was waiting and claimed it RIGHTEOUSLY. So keep your bitching and look like a total jack ass. :)
