actually I was thinking to add one of those MP3/CD changer in the trunk then I can listen to MP3s in that ways, but just worry about it can be too complicated when linking it up w/the OEM head unit. They\'re pretty nice to me, 12 CD changers w/MP3 playback......

For the 2005 Mz3 model, there is no Aux imput for an iPod or otherwise :( .
The best bet (if you don\'t want to change the head unit) is to buy a FM transmitter such as the iTrip (which is not very good) or an after-market FM transmitter (there are better ones than the iTrip, ie. they transmit a stronger signal).

Good Luck

Hey DJB,

Actually there are a couple of options to hook up and external device (Ipod etc.)

check out This (http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=1971) Link.

You can also get a PIE (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=445) adaptor to hook up a CD changer and retain all the controls from the Stock Head unit.

Okay I\'ll throw in one more alternative... There\'s also the ICELink (http://www.densionusa.com/icelink_info.htm) . Seems to be pretty expensive though, and I think it\'s only for an IPOD and I\'m not 100% sure that it works in the mazda 3

I use a PIE module to connect my iPod to my stereo. My iPod is quite close to my shift knob so controlling it isn\'t too much of a stretch for me. Turning up the contrast during the day and turning on the backlight at night helps me see the screen. If I had to I can also use my remote. ;)

I use ICElink and it does work with an iPOD only
Here are a few things to consider about ICElink:
-----------------------------------------------
When you order make sure that your car still has the original audio headunit since it comes with a special connector (a cd changer type). You can still use it with the aftermarket but you gotta find out the right connector for yours.
You\'re right that it ain\'t cheap but what it does it does well.
I actually hide my iPOD in the ashtray compartment and you would never guessed it\'s there ;)
Two things I really like about that solution - the sound qty is amazing! It actually sounds MUCH better than a cd playing (I think mazda cut corners with that stock cd player).
The second thing I really come to like is that your wheel controls work with this solution - you can browse thru your songs and lower/raise volume.
A couple of thigs which of minor annoyance (at least for me) - navigation thru your playlists via the combo of headunit controls and ICElink interface needs to get used to plus you must turn off your headunit before shutting off your engine; otherwise, your iPOD will continue playing/charging thus draining your battery.
Just remember that you always have an option of using iPOD\'s own interface instead but your wheel controls will no longer work and you have to navigate using iPOd\'s wheel.
And at last one small detail - DensionUSA once in a while releases updates to their interface; updates are straightforward and done thru iTunes/iPOD. I\'ve already done \'em twice but haven\'t noticed any difference :)
------------------------------------------------
So here ya go - a mini-review of ICElink :D

You can buy one now, but the dealers don\'t have pricing. It shouldnt be much more than the 05s

The cars will be July Production so arriving in late August or early Sept,

But to make sure you get the first one and the colour you want, we are accepting deposits right now.
