BBQ at DWM
Date: Sunday June 12th, 2005
Time: 11am-4pm
Place: Dave Wood Mazda in Newmarket
This event is being held in conjunction with the Toronto Protege Clubs Official June Event (http://ib2.toprotege.com/ikonboard.cgi?s=42a48a3d724bffff;act=ST;f=3;t=2038 9)
Kevin Godden (Service Manager) and the friendly folks at Dave Wood Mazda have asked me to extend an invitation to a BBQ this weekend to the members of the Toronto Mazda 3 Club. They will be supplying all the food and drinks for the BBQ. All you have to do as a club is show up and enjoy the hospitality. This will be a great opportunity to thank Kevin and Dave Wood for their support of local Mazda Car Clubs.
If the free food and drinks weren\'t enough, Kevin is arranging to have some feature vehicle appearances while we\'re there!!! Let me tell you from what I\'ve heard he\'s working on you won\'t want to miss these cars!
So come on out, check out some of the newest Mazda\'s available, chat it up with Kevin, other TOP and TM3 members!
Kevin has also mentioned that there is a great paved path in a park right next door, so anyone who wants to bring bikes or rollerblades will have a great venue to go for a ride!
We need to get an idea of how many people will be attending so that enough food and drinks will be available, so please post up if you will be coming and if you\'ll be bringing your wife/gf or husband/bf.

I was thinking, DWM has parking in front for 6 cars! If they empty the front area you could get 15 cars in there.....
SO Ummmmm.... Where are all these 50 cars gonna go???????????????????

We can keep the 3\'s in a small corral... keep those P-guys at a safe distance...
Theres room if they put alot of cars in their off-site lot... but i think they would have it all planned out:)

Yah I got home at 5:30 or so in the morning, tried to stay awake but ended up giving in :p Woke up at 11 something and said ahhh %*#%&#)%.
So how was the event? Was the turbo PT there? How many TOP guys ended up going in total?

Not really sure how many cars showed up for the event...i\'d say the full list of 40 cars showed up. The whole dealership was pretty much ours cause no one was in the show rooms. lol we were just running around like kids playing with Dave Wood\'s own modded cars. They showed us Dave Wood\'s own show car and race cars :) Also introduced us to the MazdaSpeed6. Just remembered a third mazda3 also showed up...a red one with custom plates, 4 my woman or sumthing...lol
I just finished uploaded all my pics to TOprotege. Didn\'t thought i\'d post them up here since there didn\'t seem to be much interest for the event...but since you asked, here are my pics

I came by... took a gander at some of the 5\'s, checked out the spanky cars in the shop.....grabbed a zoom-zoom sticker... hung a bit (wondering if any 3 guys would show) and left.
hey, I\'m shy ;) But yes, it was a good turn out for TOP.
P.S Honestly, I didn\'t scam one of those yummy burgers or any salad.........

Stealth mode works...you missed me!
My kids call mine the Spycar - and a late start on Sunday meant I couldn\'t \"cruise\" with the older P5\'s. I prefer hyper speeds when travelling anyway.
This was a great owners turnout - free DWM licence plate frames, Mazda patches, Zoom Zoom stickers, BBQ hamburgers, salad and pop/bottled water. The Mazdaspeed6 was interesting - but a non event once you\'ve seen the European version that is fully contented. I climbed in an optioned up Mazda6 and RX-8. I\'m reassured that I went with the 3 - too much dough for these Mazda models and not worth the content vs. capital value. I was hoping to see the newly introduced M5 and MX-5. Ah well.
Anyway, hats off to Dave Woods Mazda for a great tour of their dealership and a well attended P5 event. If only the TorontoMazda3 club would hold meets that are more interesting than owners standing around parking lots. I shoulda kept that yellow P5! ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM!

I was checkin\' out the dealership away from the crowd - nicely done Dave! DWM is a car guy - race prepared vehicle on display, spotless mechanics stations and attention to detail throughout. He has sales staff photos in the showroom, good inventory, a kid\'s play area, service wait area and a great display of Mazda accessories in the parts department. In my book, this is a model of a well built and maintained dealership facility. After owning more cars than I care to remember, I have toured many dealerships. Many are disappointing both in personnel and the owners commitment to the business. I have a great deal of respect for the capital requirements in order to set up this type of business combined with the integrity and knowledge of the staff needed to run it. Makes you wonder why more car dealers aren\'t opening up their doors to keep the experience going for special events such as this. It was worth the drive to Newmarket - and a few P5\'s are now wearing DWM Motorsports licence plate frames.;)
