I just found this today.. when i\'m in P and step on the brake, i can hear a *click* sound everytime i step on the brake when i\'m at P..
is this normal?

yes, it is the shift interlock.
try moving out of P without stepping on the brake...you can\'t

i never heard of it b4 so i was scared shit less coz its my BRAKE afterall :hoho
when im at [N] no click..
only clicks at [P]

that\'s cause you can shift out of N into D or R w/out touching the brake

the shift interlock is there so you can\'t shift out of Park without stepping on the brake. it is a forcing function to prevent \"unintended movement\"...you have to want to move out of Park.
it won\'t click in Neutral, only Park.

I was hearing the same sound. Its very normal to hear that sound because of Interlock function as told by Mazda service manager when i asked him the other day.

no, neutral is right in Optimzer\'s quote...you can shift out of N without stepping on the brake.
