I have a 2005 Mazda 3 GFX with 10,000 Km. I bought it new in November 2004. The problems I have had are squeky loud brakes (mostly when in reverse)and rough idling. The issue I am dealing with now is rough idling. It has really started to worry me. I brought it twice to the dealership, but nothing has improved. They said they balanced to tires. Obviously this has nothing to do with the problem. Can anyone out their help me? Is this a shitty Mazda 3 trait that I have to live with? Or are the dealers not doing their job right? Please help.

Let me get this straight.....you go to a dealer complaining about idling problems and they balanced your tires? Which dealership was this? Regardless, I suggest trying another dealership. I doubt this is a trait of MZ3\'s cause ours isn\'t experiencing such a problem.

It\'s been a few days since i got my CAI and it seems to have resolved the rough idling problem. Obviously you shouldn\'t buy a CAI to resolve the problem, but it got me thinking that it may be erradic air flow... possibly and Air filter problem? just a thought...

I have the rough idling problem too....and dealers are absolutely useless in trying to fix it. I\'ve complainted to Avante Mazda about 3 times about it and their response is that they can\'t replicate the problem. I tell them it starts to idle rough after about 10 minutes or so after you start to drive. I\'m just so use to it now...

Never had a rough idling problem so far, even with the MazdaSpeed CAI installed.
Can\'t really see why it would be idling rough. The problem could be anything, from your plugs to fuel pump. Take the car over to the Mazda of Toronto and have the techs hook it up to your computer to see what is really going on in there.
Oh... and welcome to the forums!

1 year bump.
I was wondering if anyone could help. My car started to idle very roughly when dips below 750 rpm and vibrates alot. plus it almost sound like i have an aftermarket exhaust all of a sudden. I was driving through some high snow last night. Any ideas? could i have damaged my exhaust drivin over high snow?

my car has recently developed the same issue. 75,000KM on it. I have an automatic, and when in drive with the brake applied(stoplight for instance), the car vibrates, and there is a loud vibration coming from the engine compartment.
Going to make an appointment to have it checked out.

does it only do it when your just slightly rolling with the brakes on. if so mine does this too. but it stips once i either let the car speed up or stop completly. i think it has to do with some mechanism in the tranny that tries to engage the tranny at low rpms or something like that :S

I notice mine does make a noice when slightly rolling with the brakes applied but only when the fan is running. Really weird.

actually it only happens if I am at a dead stop.

My Rough idling was resolved after the last oil change. You have a 2/3 year old car with 10KM only? When is the last time you had an oil change?

One problem could be a dirty MAF sensor. And for those of you with an intake, your days are numbered. Make sure that the intake is very sturdy and does not move because, the mazda3s MAF sensor wires are very short w/ almost no play so in time the wires will pull out of the MAF sensor and if Mazda has to fix it, they will not warranty the CAI or any intake for that matter, even if you bought it from the dealership. The intake sounds sweet, but Mazda makes the damn wires so short that even slight play slowly pulls the wires out of the MAF and when that happened my care ran awful. Anyways does anyone know how to get longer wires if at all possible and anyone know of any toys for the engine besides BOOST.

im going to get this checked out too, mine is doign it after the car is warm
BUMP.
I was wondering if anyone found out what the problem was with the rough idling? I haven't taken it to the dealership yet because I'm off warranty.
Thanks
I've complained about this 3 times, But they plug it into the computer and say that the low idle hasn't triggered any codes. The mechanic told me if the idle falls below a certian range for a bit, it'll throw a CEL. (I think he said 15 seconds)
This only happens when the car is warm, on a warm day.
I've given up... on a note... my CAI did help the issue.
I noticed this started happening when I took out my CAI and put back the stock air box.

wow, so i'm not the only one noticing it. Its not always when i'm at the red light, but it is common...
So, purge valve has to be replaced? Thats a warranty thing I hope?! Mine is an '07 GS Sedan

The dealer has to CONFIRM the purge valve is faulty. The problem is that no vodes show up and mine is an 05 and I have had this problem from day one.

my problem seemed to go away with an oil change and auto tranny flush.
I had similar problems of rough idle where my entire car would shake when stopped. Had to throw it in neutral whenever I was at a red light to make it stop.
