looks like Spin-On Filter Mount:[Part # L301-14-310] got replaced with L301-14-311 Oil filter body is that correct?

and now it\'s 5bux cheaper than about 6 months ago :p

That\'s the old part number Mazda superseded it to the 311 one.

I asked markham mazda, they said it voids warranty.
But since FLIPSPEED posted this, I\'m assuming they were lying?

It would only void your warranty if something was to happen as a result of you doing this mod. They just told you that because they know nothing about this mod.

So if the mod was done wrong, with oil leaks resulting in engine damage this would then void the warranty? So am I correct to think that if the mod was done properly this mod would not void the warranty. I inqiured with another dealer and the techs felt that this mod would not be a problem and should work fine. Personally I don\'t see a problem.
Right or wrong? Comments

I don\'t see what could possibly go wrong because the the filter housing mount takes the same gasket, so the only thing I see that could go wrong is you strip the bolts that hold the mount to the engine.

One quick q: would anyone know what torque should be used on the filter body's 4 bolts to engine? It is not mentioned anywhere in the write up...

So to dig up an old thread...

I just wanted to make sure that this conversion is possible on an '05 2.3L engine? I'm only contemplating it right now, but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't ill advised or anything. I can't see anything horrible happening, but I've learned that the 2.3L is somewhat unique.

Not ill advised at all, actually a good idea.

I have the spin on conversion done to my speed3

allowed me to add an adaptor for oil pressure and oil temp sensors. Been a few years now with no issues

Okay, awesome. I'll probably have to wait until the spring to be able to make the change, but it will be nice to be able to work with what I'm used to.

What's the purpose of this? I keep hearing about it, but no idea why it's done.

Also, unless you do your own oil changes ..... It changes the capacity no?

Less likely to screw things up. Plastic cap has a tendency to crack if overtightened.

Fair. Thanks for the clarification.
