man, how come most of the nice places to eat are at the east end. so few here in the west end (hmm...guess i better step out of the house for a while, cobwebs starting to grow next to my legs :p :p ).

hmm, this is just my observation...don\'t you find
- korean bbq being run by chinese people
- japanese restaurants being run by either chinese or korean
- chinese restaurants being run by chinese people and yet the food still doesn\'t come out right

just an observation.;)

i\'m chinese so no offense to all the chinese people in the house.

Ok since some of you guys are talking about korean bbq. I\'ll tell you guys something about commerce Gate korean bbq. After you read this i think some of you will stop going there.

A frd and I used to work there and I\'ll tell you why you guys should\'nt eat there.

-meat/food drops in the kitchen then places back on the tray without cleaning it.
-seafood or any left over food are reused for another table.
-the clamps/tongs that you use they only throw in a bucket of water(the waters there for at least 5-6 hours) with soap then they wipe it off and give to the customers
-The gloves that they use when they were inside are so dirty it made my frd have skin irritation on his hand.
-last but not least the workers there don\'t use the utensils/ bowls/ dishes there because it\'s too dirty.

All of the things i said above are true and is not bs. After reading this you guys can make your decision next time if you want to go or not.

Just posting here so you guys are aware. And i know many places are dirty in the kitchen and as long as you do\'nt see/know it its clean but now you know you guys can decide.

permission to speak in the Asian Lounge...

.. someone PMd me and granted me permission .. off i go..

last night i went to Yang\'s Sushi Bar on highway 7 and warden (ish) AYCE sushi buffet..

pros:
o price: $17.99 (mon-thurs) or $19.99 (fri-sun) CASH deals.. it\'s 1-2 bux more for credit card
o ALL YOU CAN EAT!! :)
o FRESH food
o little wait time (once you flag\'em down) :p
o ultd pop and/or green tea
o 10% service fee (tip) pretty low so yeeeehaaaww.. other places charge 15-20% flat fee

neutral:
o 1.5 hr limit (we were done in 1.25hrs)
o what you don\'t eat you have to pay for (didn\'t have much leftover so it was ok)
o not enough wasabi :D

cons:
o not enough pictures next to the 150-200 food items (so if you don\'t know what\'s what you\'re playing the russian roulette)
o honestly.. if you\'re not asian you get lost in the crowd and unless you wave the staff down you don\'t get served.. then again maybe that\'s how that place works?
o is there a special way to pour the damned tea? it ended up all over the table.. lol
o you have to ask for napkins.. and more napkins to clean up the spilled tea :)

deep fried banana with vanilla/green tea ice cream rocks :D i wish we got some breakdown of what we ordered so we\'d know what\'s good and what\'s not.. oh well gotta go back again and try more stuff :)

oh yah and don\'t forget to ASK HOW MANY PIECES come with each roll.. roll is singular but you get 6 of them.. :sarc lol.. damn that was a lot of food.. ahaha.. they brought out 4 rolls and WHATM 24 pieces.. thankfully we were hungry and food was yummy :D

dinner for two $45.52.. not bad at all..

One of my friends just dumps it under the table, but that\'s rude :P
o not enough wasabi :D LOL! Just ask! I always ask for extra wasabi there, they\'re usually cool about it, just sometimes slow to respond if they\'re busy

Yangs is great... lots of variety, but yeah, it\'s insanely busy. You\'re better off to go on a weekday closer to mid-week for it to be worthwhile.

Another thing that will help you out is tell them how much you want (with Sashimi)... just tell them the number of pieces you want...

ie: 20 x Salmon, 10 x snapper, 10 x Surf clam, etc etc...

majic
11-24-2005, 05:36 PM
ahahaha.. nice reply.. thanks..

i guess it just takes time getting used to how those places operate :p and the weekday outing was a blessing - not busy at all

we didn\'t have any left overs but we thought of throwing them in the green tea kettle/pot :D ahahha.. as for the wasabi.. i wante to taste the food so that\'s why i put it in the neutral category ;)

next time i\'ll know.. and believe me there will be a next time :) .. how the flip do they stay open .. man i am the human vaccuum (so i\'ve been told) and i imagine there are more monsters like me out there.. damn..

Yang\'s is a great place.

My GF is in love with that place, at one point we were there almost once a week!! :p
If you end up going more than once, just order different stuff. Thats how we figured out what we like and what we dont.

I suggest Tempura Shrimp Hand Roll or the crispy spicy roll mmmm ... im hungry now.

Ive heard of another place at Pacific mall that is AYCE as well, forget the name however, its supposed to be accessable from outside only?

Yangs is pretty good but one thing i found out is most or maybe all the all you can eat sushi places try to stuff you up with big ass rice in there rolls and the salmons are cut like an inch thick. I used to like those all you can eat ones but after there trying to rip ppl off i start to dislike them. Theres this place for sushi is really good but it\'s not all you can eat. But gurantee excellence. Ichiban. I think there are too places that have it. They are own by koreans i believe. Alton tower (West of Mc Cowan and South of Steeles) and the other one is at richmond hill. (North of 16th and East of leslie.) Trust me on this. Those food might be small and little but quality food cause my sister used to work there for parttime(the leslie one). Very very clean kitchen. :) Also the one at Alton tower if you ordered a decent amount for instance, 4 people going they might even give you a bbq salmon head or some other stuff *yummy*

BTW anyone tried the one under pacific mall? they have a banner saying $12.99 for dinner buffet. Not sure if i should go try. Or maybe i should go try and give feed back to you guys

Just as an fyi to all who eat at discount sushi. Beware. The only reason they can charge so little for the fish is because the fish they buy is almost rotten. Okay, maybe not rotten, but its the least fresh fish on the dock. Its the stuff that no other decent restaurant would buy and that means its been sitting on the dock for way too long. Basically it is so close to being rotten that it has to be served as soon as it gets to the restaurant.

Buddy of mine got worms which caused him to have an itchy bum hole for weeks.

The Tokyo Sushi on Woodbine and 7 is also Korean owned. You\'re right though about Ichiban, all the one\'s I\'ve been to have had good food there.
