View Full Version : Need 1 Replacement Tire...What To Get?

So it seems like my 3 is really trying to stick it to me. First the windshield gets smashed and now I have a slash in the sidewall of one of my tires so I need to replace it. I\'m driving around on the spare and trust me is sucks.

So I don\'t know whether to get a new Goodyear Eagle RS-A (aka the \"crappy\" tire as I hear from everyone) or just get a new set. They only have less than 35,000 kms on them so it looks like I\'m gonna be shelling out for one new piece of rubber.

Anyone got any suggestions? I\'m going to give Tires23 and E-Spec a call to check their prices.

you may consider new rubbers all around. You said you have 35,000km (if i recall correctly) the stock rubbers are *supposed* to be replaced at 40,000km ...

The way i would think of it -- rubbers is what keeps the car attached to road and keeps me safe, if I cheap out and run my rubbers till their bald i\'ll put myself and those around me in jeopardy, cause i wanted to save some cash... no thnx

If you\'re looking for just one tire. Steelecase, just west of Woodbine. I think garages buy their tires from there. Go to the source. I can\'t remember the name, They sell rims & tires (on the south side/left)

If you want the exact address I can confirm tomorrow on my way to work

I can give you a whole set of 4 RSAs for free if you want them! They only have about 1000kms on them and have been sitting in my garage since I had them removed in March of 2004. You\'ll just have to come by and pick them up. Think of it as 3 extra spares...just in case.

Picked up the tires from Bluntman last night and everything is great now! :)

I even got to check out his HIDs and system setup so now I\'m itching to spend more $$$. If anyone knows how we can name a \"Member of the Month\" then please let me know because Bluntman has is bagged!

Incidentally, driving on the spare tire is horrible. The car feels completely foreign and everytime you drive over a patch of uneven road you get the feeling like the donut will completely snap off!

Thanks again...

Candyman mentions Steelcase - I was in the same situation as you - except mine was a Toyo\'s A18 (those are the tires I got with my 3) - slashed it on the sidewall making a left from Birchmount onto Ellsmere - Steelcase was pretty good - fast, staff was nice - strange part was they didn\'t carry the tire at there shop (nor did the dealership) - the car is so \'new\' that they don\'t bother, yet, having the stock on hand. Cost me $175 - new valve stem, tire, put it on (I would think so).

Agreed to - driving on the donut sucks.

Question - did you have a hard time taking the tire off after taking the lugs off?

No real problem with the lugs. Actually I called Mazda Roadside Assistance to do it for me! I figure I have it for a reason so why not use it? They didn\'t seem to struggle.
