I washed my car last night and during my ride home, i came to a full red light stop. Beside me was a Mazda 6. I looked at him and he looked back with a \"lets get it on face\". I drive tiptronic and i knew it was going to be a close race. For the first 50 km/h i was half a car\'s length ahead of him and when we i hit 100 km/h he was a little bit more behind about 3/4 car\'s length. I don\'t know if the 6 was a manual or auto. Is this normal because the 6 is heavier then our 3? I sure had lots of fun beating that 6.

As strange as this sounds, I am quite confident that a 2.3L MZ6 with a manual tranny is quicker than a 2.3L MZ3 with manual tranny. As some of you know these are the two cars we have, and the 6 pulls much stronger than the 3 does. I say it is strange since the 6 is heavier, but the motor is tweaked a bit differently so I guess it\'s possible.

The 5spd. 6 is actually quicker even though the car is a bit heavier. The tranny is stronger too.

Yeah, after reading this post I drove both cars yesterday and there is no way the 3 is faster. First and second gear in the 3 feel quite sluggish, and it really only feels peppy in third and fourth. In the 6 however, the car, once past the known throttle lag problem, revs much more quickly/freely and that holds true for all gears.

I read on an clubrsx forum, that the 3 runs too rich at idle causing bogging.
no clue what it means but yeah.
can someone please explain

joe, are the transmissions in the 6 (4cyl) and the 3 the same? the G35M-R?

this post if old (http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=9518.msg121537#msg121537) but the guy crossbow was pointing out that they\'re identical (from a 03 mazda6)

I don\'t go by what manuals or books say. I\'m more of a hands-on guy when it comes to parts. The internal gears of both cars are the same. The only difference I can see is the transmission housing.

I doubt that they are the same unit, they feel totally different.
