Just wanted to start a new thread here because the other one is so long already. This thread
is for the results that you\'ve seen after the ETB grounding mod. Fuel efficiency, smoother shifts, etc.

I didn\'t \"believe\" in this mod because if it makes such a significan difference (better fuel efficieny, easier to shift gears, no shaking when idle etc.) don\'t you think a team of Mazda engineers experts would have figured that out already?

Anyway, because this requires no money to do (I have the cables and metal hoops at home), I have decided to try it anyway and added the a thick ground cable like the pictures shown on the other thread. http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=395&page=1
Well, here\'s mine...

The results... well, from 1st to 2nd gear (stick shift), it \"might\" be a little bit smoother but it\'s hard to tell. But if there IS any improvements, it\'s maybe around 0%-5% improvement, and if THERE IS any improvement, of that 0%-5% I think 95%-100% is mental, and maybe 0-5% is REAL improvments.

I have to see my fuel efficiency the next time I fill up gas. But if any of you have real milage stats please post them (before and after).

I\'m always skeptical of the ETB......just as you stated, why wouldn\'t they have done it from the factory? I suppose the only good thing is that it is a cheap mod to do.

thats a lean engine bay!

i voted slight improvement.

that\'s what I noticed on mine specially when ac is on.
not improvement on power but more on throttle response.

I got the real grounding kit from Suntech Automotive which includes 5 wires(99.99% pure copper). Throttle response and smoother shifting is definitely noticeable. My mileage increased by at least 5%. For example: before I got around 580km before my fuel light comes on, and after I get around 610km to 620km before my fuel light comes on. I do about 90% hwy driving per week (100-110 kph - higher speeds would of course burn more gas) so I haven\'t had a chance to see what a full tank of only city driving would get. This kit is expensive, about $250 cdn but it is much cheaper in the States, around $120 us. It\'s crazy to spend this much on wires but oh well, I at least got some improvement!

yeah!! I saw gizmo\'s grounding kit at the Thursday night mini meet at Silvercity. The kit has 5 wires wiring 8-10 different points (correct me if im wrong). Howcome everybody is only using 1 wire and grounding 2 points and not the other points??? Can we ground all the other points using 5 4 gauge wires like what gizmo have without having to buy a true gounding kit and save $$$????

The Suntech Hyper Ground\'s instructions reads: (1)chassis to battery negative, (2)battery negative to intake manifold or throttle body, (3)throttle body to transmission or cylinder block, (4)next to cylinder head, (5)back to chassis on the opposite side from battery. The wires lay out in a Daisy Chain fashion from one side to the other. This way of wiring is patented from Suntech Automotive so it is different from Earthing systems (where all the grounds spread out to different points and converge onto one point). I haven\'t tried this with regular power wire but I\'m sure there may be a slight improvement. Over time the stock negative battery wire will begin to oxidize, then you\'ll definitely need to upgrade the ground(4awg should do).

When i did the grounding I noticed an immediate improvement. The improvement wasn\'t performance though.

I noticed at idle, the engine just idled smoother, less vibration. as for throttle response, I did notice a slight improvement in that department.

But if attaching that little wire smoothes out the engine, even at idle, it\'s worth it for me to keep. I spend a whole $2.78 for this mod. If a little money means a little improvement, it\'s good enough for me to keep.
