Please sign my petition against harmonized sales tax in Ontario. The government wants to combine PST and GST into one single tax to make things "simpler". Doing this will increase the taxes we pay on a lot of things. Basically, add an additional 8% tax to such items as natural gas, propane, water, hydro, heating fuels, gasoline for your vehicle, house and auto insurance, telephone, Internet and cable services, RENT, home renovations, recreational fees (campground, golf etc.), hair cuts, hairdressing, newspapers, magazine subscriptions, vitamins, landscaping maintenance, snow removal, accounting and legal services, stamps, certain financial fees (mutual funds, MERS etc.), realtor fees, taxi-bus-airline-train fares, coffee, movies, theatre tickets (Stratford Festival), etc. This is a partial list of taxable items. Basically anything service related will have the additional 8% tax. Times are tough, save your money.
