Installing 07+ GX/GS Lip Questions

Hey guys,

I went down to do a test fit of my Nextmod 07+ GX/GS Lip, just wanted to get an understanding of where to place the screws and where I would need tape.

After test fitting I had a few questions:

1. Where are people applying 3M Molding tape? Are you applying in long strips along the whole lip interior?

2. Where are you placing your screws? There are 8 with the lip.

3. Does the bottom corner of the lip (which fits into wheel well) need to match up exactly with the wheel well?

what you see is the lip mating with the wheel well, but you can seethe lip edge is considerably lower than the end of the wheel well, mind you the lip fitment is fine even when this happens. I am not sure if I need to push the lip end right up into wheel well.

4. 2 existing screws in the wheel well that hold the spalsh guard, do you remove them and then place the lip on then re screw those through the lip back into the bumper?

oh and yes, it is a dirty picture I know, it had just rained and I was dying to test fit

I wouldn't use any tape. Especially if you plan on taking it off for the winter.

This is where mine are located. I also added 2 brackets underneath for extra support.

So you used 2 screws in the well, and then you used 2 brackets to hold the lip to the bumper?

If you nee to for example get to your fog light, by peeling back the splash guard in the well, do you have to first remove your lip?


Did you use the screws that came with the lip? or went wth something bigger? Your screws seem bigger.

no need for 3M tape... they are a PITA to remove after.. do what Ryan did.. simple and easy.. mines sturdy even without brackets.. but better safe than sorry

I honestly don't think my lip even needs any hardware. It's ridiculously tight. This was the first lip ever created here in NA of this style so the fitment is a little snug. The brackets underneath are just for peace of mind but I don't think they are really doing too much.

The lip does prevent me from doing a lot. If I want to take the bumper off I have to pretty much remove the lip first, depending on what I am trying to do. If I am just changing a bulb I can access those ares with no trouble though.

I didn't get any hardware with mine but I do think they are bigger. Honestly anything will work as long as there aren't super small. I'm pretty sure the screws I used are bigger than most.

I went to home depot and pickex up two small brackets for 80 cents lol.
Installed 2 screws in each wheel well and then used the 2 brackets under the lip like you did.

Looks great fits great!
