Based on what you have said, I would go with the base Mazda 6. Don't get too caught up in some of the "extra features". A lot of the time they seem alluring but you may not even use most of them, or care about them a year down the road. I personally think the 6 is a much nicer looking car as well.

But its not comfortable. The stubby center arm rest actually kills it. They moved the shifter forward. To fit those control buttons in front of the cup holders.

Its jsut the fact that the base model has a stubby little short arm rest. It makes the stick shift a reach. The gs and gt has a sliding extendable center arm rest so clearly im not the only one... they just pinched pennies to keep the base model cheap.

I personally prefer the accord over the 6 as far as comfort goes and it looks a bit sportier too.

Dad owns 2010 Accord EX Auto. Bought brand new (Sterling Honda too). Current mileage 100,000km.

    Good:
    > Power is always there, beautiful power-train. Like the conventional Auto, instead of new CVT.
    > Fuel economy is pretty good, with a full tank on highway, 1000km is achievable in summer.
    > comfortable ! huge on the inside relative to many cars. Interior is well thought out and it seems comfort and layout is top priority
    > great city driver and highway cruiser

    Cons
    > A couple of problems here and there. All covered under warranty. Needed to replace VVT actuator. Leaked oil for sometime and got something replaced, was a mess on our drive way. Alignment been a problem for sometime, and they can't seem to get it right no matter how much they try, steering is off-center.

A great thing is Sterling Honda's service department. One of the best I have ever seen for a dealership and lead by a great manager, Steve.

    Overall, it's a safe bet.

I realize you want Manual and that's good. But for me, the new earth dreams engine and CVT is meh. I hate CVT. For me, this was a step backwards for the Accord.

    Mazda 6 vs Accord:
    > Both have new power-trains so the reliability question is the same for both cars. Time will tell.

    Good luck!
