    Question Missfire at 2200 rmp

I'm new to Mazda and their tricks... My engine is misfiring at 2200 RPM in one of it's cylinders and the code simply says misfire it doesn't specify the cylinder or the cause (obviously). If anyone knows what could be the cause of my issue even common fixes, like I said I'm new and don't really know where to start. I was thinking coils or the MAF... I have also head talk of a PCM... I put new plugs in and no change. Any direction is some direction!!

    ???

How did the plugs look when you pulled them out? Did one look different than others?
Does the misfire happen with no engine load when you rev the engine, or only under load.

One option would be to disconnect one ignition coil at a time and see if the engine starts running rougher, the moment there is no change, that will be the problem cylinder. Another would be to bring it to a shop that can hook up a mchine to each ignition coil and monitor them throughout the RPM range.

the plugs looked fine, and the misfire occurs when there is any load put on the engine.
for example, in the morning the car will run fine as if nothing was wrong but as soon as it starts to warm up, the misfire occurs OR whenever there is any stress on the engine (a/c...etc)

Wouldn't bad coil pack throw a specific CEL?

To me it just seems that if there is no other codes along with misfire that this would a mechanical issue. Am I wrong?

Not necessairly. Pulling a coil pack one at a time helps with narrowing down the cylinder that misfires, that doesn't mean that the coil pack on that cylinder is bad.
Since OP doesn't have a specific cylinder misfire code, the misfire may happen on multiple cylinders, in which case it may be fuel issue.
Having exact trouble codes, and I have a feeling that with something like this there might be few codes stored, would help a lot.

Had an ignition coil fail on the work van a few months ago. All that I felt was the van loose power almost all of a sudden on the 401, got to the side of te road and the van was shaking a bit. Turned it off, tried to restart it and got nothing. Didn't see a CEL either I don't believe

Ignition coil and coil pack is not a same thing, at least to me. Cars (and motorcycles) used to have one ignition coil that was used by all of the spark plugs, now our mazdas have individual coil packs = one coil per spark plug.

Anyways, you guys are probably right about not throwing codes as there probably isn't any sensor on coil packs. The old ignition coils didn't for sure.

Also I would expect some other codes to be there as well, that's why I was thinking mechanical (or like mentioned something bad fuel).
