cel and battery light mazda 3 2.0 manual trans
hey guy so yesterday went to get and oil change and they said i should also do my coolant so i said sure wen it came time for me to turn my car on and rev to 2000 rpm i noticed my car had a cel and battery lights on i mentioned it to them and they said theyll check the battery the test said im due for a new battery i said okay fine install it after install still had lights on so i said well put my battery back that obv wasnt the problem they tried clearing the code and it just pops right back on they called the mechanic from next door over and he said u gotta change ur alternator i said well i can do that myself and drove home got home jacked it up and checked wiring going to alternator and it looks fine and my battery is showing no signs of dying from not being charged and everything electrical works fine in the car so i then tried starting the car and now it wont even turn over my buddy tapped on the starter with a hammer lightly and it then started i looked online and found that wiring to the starter is common to get corroded and cause this problem so i check the wire and it seams just fine nice and clean so im assuming i need a starter then.... would my starter not working right cause the battery light to come on or do i also possibly have a issue with my alternator as well? any help is greatly appreciated also any places suggested to buy a starter and can u use starters from 04-09 ?
