on March 6 2014 I took my Mazda in to Mazda of Toronto to have them look at my car ever since i stopped driving this every day car would not start. I previously took this in Gyro Mazda who said drive. Well now it would die in 3 days.
I talked to my mechanic Moe Malik( former Mazda employee) who suggested i take it to Mazda of Toronto and see his friend Frank Dutra.as we thought this is 3 year warranty.
I saw Frank Dutra and service advisor Lois Chennel advised them i wanted them to look at the car and wanted a parasitic draw test done , to see which circuits were drawing too much power. If necessary i could disconnect the fuse, as i was unsure disconnect the battery would cause "check engine light".
Lois Chennel and Frank said first we have to test the battery and to wait for approx 2 hours.
I gave them both my home number and cell number.
I waited the 2 hours, they saidthey were calling my home number .then they informed me that i needed a new battery, they said it was covered under warranty and that i would be charged 50% as the battery replacement was only good for 1year . I balked and said, Canadian tire gives 3 years free replacement and then its prorata for the rest of the battery guarantee.
Lois then spoke to someone in the office
there response was we tested the battery and if you don't get the battery their would be a service charge of $49.98 the cost of the battery. so replace the battery is the best choice
i responded its covered by the 3 year warranty what good is this.
I could not leave without some sort of payment
I said i wanted to speak to the technician and they responded they have no one as Frank Dutra had a medical appointment and no one qualified talk to
I had question about alternator as my car is a standard
i wanted to know at what rpm is the alternator fully charging battery?
what is the alternator charging at?
as I understand the normal maximum parasitic draw should be around .30 millamps millamps/hour
Although the maximum rule of thumb recommended parasitic drain is around 30 mA (0.030 amps) a typical drain usually falls into the 7-12 mA range, even though some luxury vehicles do approach the maximum. Multiply the drain (in amps) by the time (in hours) the battery sits without being recharged. The result is the amount of AH consumed by the parasitic drain. The actual drain may be small, but over time the battery grows steadily weaker.
Here’s an example: A vehicle with a 30 mA drain and a fully-charged 70 RC battery will last 3 weeks. But if that battery is at only 65% of full charge it is going to last only 2 weeks before giving the customer that “click click click” complaint.

something is wrong with my car
I am not questioning the battery might not be 100% but the problem is still not solved
I have trouble understanding why a car would drain a battery within 3 -7days
If you want a dealership that just replaces parts and does not address the problem just the symptom they go to Mazdaof Toronto
thks
