    Exclamation Air intake 2006 mazda 3 2.0 manual

    I installed a new air intake on my 3 on sunday, yesterday and today it threw a code ( p2187 system too lean at idle bank 1) is this a result of the increased airflow? Or is it just coincidence and there is something else wrong with my car? 06 mazda 3 2.0 manual w/180,000 kms

    Honestly, just check your connection at the maf sensor. Could be something loose. Then reset the code and see if it turns on again. I installed my cai and never got a c.e.l related to the cai

    http://www.obd-codes.com/p2187 read. It has a few possible reasons why that code came on. Although it doesn't exactly pinpoint the exact cause

    What kind of intake did you put on. It seems a lot of cheaper ones throw codes all the time

    2187 is an annoying one.

    I had it come and go randomly with my Simota intake.

    The first time was a bad O2 sensor.

    The second time was an intermittent random problem that Jimmy used to scratch his head at, as he found nothing wrong with MAF/cables/installation.

    It seems - and this is totally non scientific - that that particular intake anyway liked to throw codes right at weather change. Basically Fall Winter, and then once again, Winter/Spring.

    I cleared the code it would go away.

    But first thing is first make sure cables are not stretched like Default User said.

    check your MAF make sure its clean, make sure the connections are good. clear the code taker for a rip and see if it comes back on... if it does let me know.

    I have the same issue, my mechanic and I think it might be a vacuum leak.... The silicone hose wasn't long enough so I made some home remedies. I just bought a CS SRI yesterday and am waiting for it in the mail. I'll let you know how it goes.
    Lesson learned don't buy s*** from Pacific Mall....

    OH and I have one more code than you P2187 & P2177. Its a bad feeling having this after an install.. I know.

    This code was a real pain in the butt for me on my 07. When I installed my Simota CB SRI everything was fine.
    A couple of years later I was randomly throwing this code. Changed my MAF Sensor and it still came back. Changed my purge valve and it still came back. Id reset it with my ODB reader and it would come back and go away. All this work was done by Jimmy at Street performance and even he was wondering why it kept coming back. My next guess would be a bad o2 sensor.

    Anyways I left it alone and it went it away by itself eventually and hasn't come back for over 6 months. But I'm pretty sure I just jinxed it now.
    It drives fine and has passed emissions testing. To this day i still cannot pinpoint exactly what was throwing this code.

    Dear OP, I fixed my P2177 &P2187. I bought a new short ram intake from corksport, but on top of that I had bought a new MAF sensor, installed the sensor only when I put everything together to limit its exposure, install took me 15 minutes and I cleared the code, 30 km later it hasn't come back. I'll let you know 100km later if it pops up but I touched my old MAF sensor and I think I destroyed it.
