Default Angel Eyes as DRL - highbeam question

    Hey Guys,

I've searched up and down on this forum, PM'd guys with no reply, and maybe I've come across this answer in a forum but its using so much electrical lingo that it went over my head.

So basically I have an 09 GS sedan, with HID's installed as the low beam. I'd like to install Angel Eyes as the DRL. But with that, since the DRL is the high beam running at a lower capacity, will that make the high beam also function from my Angel Eyes? I do a lot of rural driving so I can't sacrifice my high beams.

    What I want:

DRL: Angel Eyes On - lowbeam HID's off - Highbeams off
Nighttime - Angel eyes off (if possible) Lowbeam HID's on and still being able to use my highbeam if need be.

What would the wiring be like for something like this? I'm as noob as they come when it comes to this stuff.

If that doesn't work, I've read wiring them to your parking lights is easy/common too. I don't really care if they're on when my HID's or Highbeams are on since I know they'll get over powered by those.

If anyone could lend a hand, or know someone that would do this install/has done this install, that would be great. I've already PM'd mcguyver but have had no reply lol.

    Thanks!

my idea would be to tap your angel eye wire into the parking lights and just run with the parking lights, and if you dont like the orange of the parking lights with the angel eyes then you could do the delete, just a suggestion

You simply wire the angel eyes either to the parking lights as mentioned above, or directly to another ignition-switched source (i.e. something that gets power when the engine is running).

That's fine, I figured answering PM's wasn't your full time job so I expected some delay. Get at me when you get a chance, I found a place that will do the install, but I'd rather support a sponsor from TM3, if they are willing to do it of course.

that's what I'm thinking is my option, I wouldn't be opposed to the orange light, I just thought DRL would be better but we'll see what happens!

Well I said parking light because I wasn't sure if the pulsating current in the highbeams would blow the angel eyes after turning the highbeams on if tapping into drls

I was looking to do the same thing, but found another simple solution.

I have 2008 Sedan GX with HID Lows, Reg Hi's, Angel Eyes, and a set of 50 LEDs (25 white & 25 Blue) behind Grill so when it is dark My Mazda Symbol is visible (Own idea/TradeMarked lol)

My solution is Simple. Pull the fuse for the Day Time running lights. Grab power from another fuse for Angel Eyes which turns on whenever my accessories are on. (Power Steering fuse in my case, LOL)

Angel Years were rated for 50,000 hours, so what the hell.
Also I understand how stupid pulling power from the Power Steering sounds but have been running them for over a year and through that cold ass winter, and no problems

    Hope this helps.

Sounds pretty sick, post a pic with the LED's!

Yeah I just wired the halos to be on whenever the car is on, took out the DRL fuse, and am still able to use my Hi's so it worked out. Plus it was pretty easy even for a noob like me. I'll post a pic later tonight

If you decide to install LED's Make sure they are water proof and rated to what a power washer would give out.

I dont recommend these ones for anyting external. The waterproof clear plasti has ripped on me

    get something like this.
    http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2-x-20-Waterp...4a7f0c3&_uhb=1

This one allows you to wrap zip-ties around and between LED's and keep a firm grip. I also ended up drilling small holes into plasti to use the zip-ties. Just always look what is on the other side of the plastic to make sure it is safe. Then jsut solder it to the same wire you have drawing power from which ever fuse you are using
