Default 2008.5 iPod Integration issue - Can barely hear it, HELP!

I just bought a 2008.5 Mazda 3 Hatchback GT which came with that MP3 compatible CD player in piano black. At first I went to GTA Car Kits to pickup the kit for this car but it didn't work. The sound was terrible and there was a ton of noise/whine in the output. Exchanged the new style kit with the old style to see if that would work and solve the issue, nope. Doesn't work at all.

I called Mazda and, since they're trying to get rid of the old 1st gen accessories they have, I was able to pickup the OEM iPod Integration kit (C291-79-CFZ) with the wire harness (C9F4-V6-029) for $60! Problem is that the volume is extremely low on it, I can only hear is with the iPod and HU set to max volume, engine off and all windows up. Not very convenient. Everything else works though, i.e.: display on the iPod and the HU. I called Mazda and, since this is 1st ben stuff, they're trying to locate someone that has experience with this issue to give me some pointers (I've been waiting on a call back for a week now). They agreed to replace the C9F4-V6-029 harness for C9F1-V6-029 since I'm not planning on installing Sirius and I'd rather keep my AUX port, I'm also hoping that it might resolve the issue.

Has anyone experienced this with their 2008.5 or 2009 Mazda 3 with the piano black HU? I know there were a few manufacturers of HUs around that time, mine is a Sanyo.

Turns out I have the F197-79-CFZ module and the C9F1-V6-029 harness isn't compatible with my radio. I'll go grab the original harness tomorrow and just wait for a call back from Mazda, unless someone here has any advice?
