Hatchback, sleeker design and more room and versatile if Family comes down the road, friends for trips, hitting the beach.
Had my 2nd Mazda and the Hatchback was waaay better than the Sedan I had previously.
IMO

Love the look of the hatch over the sedan, hatch looks more sportier to me. Trunk space is nice too. Prefer the look of the Mazda 6 sedan over that hatch though. I find it looks like a really long car with the hatch. Not a fan of the 3rd Gen looks, but if I had to pick one it would be the sedan, hatch looks very bubbly

I've owned 2 sedans and still own a 3'rd sedan now. If they made the speed in a sedan form, I would get one in a heart beat. But my Mazda days are more than likely over. No more speeds, and the new Miata has a few "flaws" that I just can't look past to buy one. In my opinion the new generation 3's are ugly. The speed 6 had a lot of issues with diff mounts. A close friend of mine has one and he ended up literally rebuilding the car when he took ownership. He had such bad luck he ended up having to replace the engine. 3rd party warranty saved him on that one
1991 Nissan Pathfinder - trade in, 2005 Mazda 3 GX ty grey - Write off, 2010 Mazda 3 GT E sedan CWP- trade in, 2010 Speed 3 w/tech CWP - Up for sale (soon), 2007 Mazda 3 GS silver- motor swapped in to 2009 MS3 CWP that had blown engine, 2002 BMW 330ci silver- new winter ride, 2005 BMW M3- new toy
I got both of My mazda's in Kitchener-Waterloo, awesome service and know some guys from the gym I go to that work on them. To just let you know the Sedan I h ad was a 2009 GX + with a Sunroof and Fogs since I figured that was all I needed for University. Now After working I have a New "USED" 2015 GT Sport and I have the Kit with it now "Knight Sports" Looks Fantastic
Hatchback all the way!

I've had both a hatch and a sedan so I can see from both sides.
Hatch Pros : easy to haul bigger items since it has a larger cargo capacity and is not constrained by the size of the trunk opening. I can load a lot of stuff in the hatch easily. Especially useful to haul bigger items. Wiper on rear window makes for clearer vision out the back
Sedan Pros : I like the look better and think it looks cleaner as a sedan. the sedan is about 2-3 inches longer than the hatch. Trunk is good for putting stuff out of sight from people looking into the car. As long as things are not big and bulky, I can fit almost as much into the sedan as the hatch but stuff has to go in the back seat. I have a cargo box on the roof in the winter. The hatch would hit the box when I opened the hatch, no such problem with the sedan.
It's really personal preference. If you haul a lot of stuff or big things then the hatch is definitely better as cargo loading is much easier
hatchback but i wouldnt mind the sedan.

i recently got the sedan since it looks nicer imo for the gen3. i had a gen2 hb. love hatchbacks more, but the gen3 just looks queer
Hatch for sure. I have a 2010 and a 2017. Recently had 8 tires in my hatch (seats folded of course). Try that in your sedan!
Always loved the Mazdaspeed6 but it wasn't a great seller unfortunately. Things I dislike about it is seats don't fold down, clutch is very stiff, and its prone to axle and diff failures.
