I am trying to find the full scoop on this TSB but can't seem to find much with out purchasing a subscription.

My wife continuously complains about the noise. I sat in the back seat and place my hand on the rear package tray and the noise does stop.
It is not really a cracking sound but more like two pieces of plastic rubbing together.

I have tried to see what is causing the noise but can't pin point it.

2013-2014 CX-5 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3KE******300112 (produced before November 28, 2012)

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience a rattle noise from the front door glass when driving with the window open approx. 1/2 to 4 inches (1 - 10cm).



The rattle noise may be caused by insufficient glass run channel holding force. To eliminate this concern, the shape of glass run channel has been changed in order to increase the holding force.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

2010-2013 Mazda3 (including Mazdaspeed3)

2014 Mazda6 vehicles with VINs lower than:

Windshield - JM1 GJ ****** 125986 (produced before June 03, 2013)

Rear Window - JM1 GJ ****** 137237 (produced before August 01, 2013)

2013-2014 CX-5 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3 KE ****** 398378 (produced before October 01, 2013)

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may exhibit a cracking noise originated at the positioning pins near the top corners of the windshield and/or rear window when driving on uneven road surface. This happens when the ambient temperature is approximately 14 °F (-10 °C) or lower and the vehicle cabin has not yet warmed up. The noise is caused by the windshield and/or rear window locating stopper contacting the panel.

The thing is, it is not the sound of window cracking, more like plastic parts rubbing against each other.

I will have to grab a sound clip/video next time I drive the car.

The VIN's listed are for Mazda 6.

It could possibly be that my issue is not even related to this TSB??

If you think it is two plastic panels rubbing together it should be an easy fix to remove them and put some foam tabs in there.

If you peel back the headliner a little bit, there's two white plastic nubs that are used to locate the rear windshield for OEM assembly. Cut these plastic nubs off with side cutters as low as you can.
